Today, internet is wired into our daily lives and thus the impact digital systems cause on our personal privacy couldnt be more relevant. Internet and WWW has grown so much over last few decades that it has replaced many things from the past, way of communication, means of transaction, buying and selling and so on as it is much more convenient than older methods. But the main disadvantage with this situation is probably the thinning of line draw between personal privacy and outside world. Since we enter tons of information into internet, we are vulnerable to other people reading our private data and getting stalked online. These other people can be hackers, data thieves and even your own government. There have been number of instances over the past few years concerning the connection between the lack of digital privacy and the government. (NSA, Edward Snowden, Kim Dotcom)On the other hand, by using these information the government has been able to thwart terrorist attacks, solve crimes etc. NSA claims that they get a huge quantity of potentially lifesaving data through gathering information online. The reason we chose this topic is because it is an interesting and relevant topic in todays world. We feel that this topic will allow us to undertake in-depth research into this issue and conclude whether digital system impacts personal privacy badly or not.
