Your CHOICE, our goal
On October 6, 2016, the CTF ILLINOIS Tigers, a selfadvocate
group in the south suburbs, premiered a video which will be shown
during newhire orientation in order to demonstrate what
expectations the individuals we serve have for all employees.
The video was developed, written, and acted out by the Tigers.
Special thanks to staff members Jessica Delgado and Nia McElroy
for their help and to HomewoodFlossmoor High School for filming
the video. Actors included: Robert Jones, Rose Murray, Mark
Jennings, Lyle Edmond, Birdell Turner, Mike Tozzi, Crystal Hill, and
Jonathan Barnes.
Mark is ready for the premiere Rose stands with her award
The Painted Turtle, CTF ILLINOIS' new art studio in Tinley Park, had
its Grand Opening on October 26, 2016. The studio was built
based on the interest of the individuals we serve. There are
currently 8 individuals enrolled at the Painted Turtle and we will max
out at 15. At the Painted Turtle, individuals not only learn new skills
and techniques, but have a full storefront now open to the public to
sell their work. The grand opening brought in over $1000 for the
artists and had special guests in attendance, including Senator
Michael Hastings, Tinley Park Mayor David Seaman, and Tinley
Park Chamber of Commerce President Tom McNulty.

ENJOY what you do and sharethat PASSION with others
Melissa Crew, Supervisor of Crown Point CILA in Sumner, received
the inaugural IARF Community Care Professional Award. Her
passion and commitment to the individuals she serves helped her
secure this coveted award. Congratulations, Melissa, on this much-
deserved recognition and for all you do!
Keela Houston, a Tinley Park DT DSP, has a passion for hair styling
and fashion. Keela has taken it upon herself to style the ladies'
hair prior to their job interviews! One individual, Christine, could
not stop smiling and remarking on how great it felt to have her hair
styled. Christine's new confidence was instrumental in her
successful interview and in securing her a job! Thanks, Keela!

CTF ILLINOIS is proud to announce our shift to CQL Certification.
By making this change, we are challenging ourselves to adhere to
stricter guidelines, but also giving ourselves the opportunity to
greatly improve our services. By the end of December, we will
have four Certified CQL Personal Outcomes Measures (POM)
Trainers who will provide a total of eight training sessions to over
eighty staff members throughout our service area in 2017.
Two new CILA homes have been approved in Olney and individuals
from the eight-bed Crown Point CILA will move into the new four-
bed homes on November 7, 2016! Each individual will have their
own room and have spent time picking out decorations for their
new bedrooms and home. Everyone is excited for this move and we
will have two open houses on November 17, 2016!
Individuals at the Cedar Lane CILA in Crete took a vacation to Lake
Geneva while their home was renovated. They enjoyed a trip to the
Jelly Belly Factory in Kenosha, took a lunch cruise on Lake Geneva,
shopped at Gurnee Mills Mall, visited the Milwaukee Public
Museum, and ate dinner at the famous Safe House Restaurant!

Embrace COLLABORATION to create
extraordinary achievements
CTF is proud to partner with The Coleman Foundation of Chicago
for their #ILGIVE Campaign. On Giving Tuesday (Tuesday,
November 29, 2016), all donations made to CTF will be DOUBLED
by The Coleman Foundation as part of this campaign in addition to
donations already being doubled by Community Services
Foundation! Be sure to invite friends to donate on Giving Tuesday!
Donations can be made by going to www.ilgive.com and searching
for "CTF ILLINOIS" to select as your designation.
The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association (FCSLA) has
partnered with CTF and ACCESS to host two Christmas parties
this year, where guests are asked to donate to ACCESS
Psychological Services. One already-held party brought an
overwhelming amount of donations, including large amounts of
canned food as well as winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The
next party will be held in December.
Through the Staff Development/Training Department, Sarah Bush
Hospital provided a free presentation on proper Hoyer Lift
Training to the staff at the Advocacy Center in Charleston. In
addition, the trainer gave a follow up letter regarding
recommendations with a specific individual and a packet with
suggestions on proper equipment.
