The CT Challenge will host a music workshop on September 4 th and September 11 th at 7:00-9:00 PM at the Center for Survivorship in Southport. Scientific studies have shown the value of music therapy on the body, mind and spirit and clinical trials have shown the benefit of music therapy for short-term pain, including pain from cancer. “Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Red Auerbach Rob Fried from the BandTogether charitable organization will lead guests on an exploration of sound and rhythm, through free association and the flow of tones, to show the healing power of music. PJ Pacifico will join Rob as a special guest on September 4 th and Nicole Frechette will join on September 11 th . Join us or one evening or both. Admission is free and space is limited. Rob Fried As an Electric/Acoustic Bassist and Vocalist, Rob performed/recorded with world renowned artists including Randy Brecker, Marion Meadows, Chris Parker and Joe Beck. His musical style is Contemporary/Latin Jazz rooted in Rock and Pop. He has two original albums, "Wind Song" and "Water Rhapsody," and has opened for Manhattan Transfer, Tower Of Power, BB King and YES. Rob co-founded the charity “Band Together”, whose concert series has raised over $1 million for local charities, including CT Challenge. PJ Pacifico PJ has evolved from a beloved under-the-radar Connecticut based road warrior to an international-profile indie to be reckoned with. He is regularly compared with Paul Simon, James Taylor and Matthew Sweet. His heartfelt lyrics are delivered with smooth vocals, sung with sincerity over well-crafted songs. Nicole Frechette An up-and-coming country music artist hailing from Southern Connecticut, Nicole has been pursuing a life bound by song with a beat in her heart and music in her head. However, Nicole was not always surrounded by the comforting sounds of the South: “Country music found me through the steady voice of Patsy Cline when my Grandmother would show me ‘real music’. Nicole has recently shared bills with country superstars Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Allan, JoDee Messina, Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift. About the CT Challenge The CT Challenge (CTC) is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of the 13 million cancer survivors living in the US. CTC’s mission is to empower cancer survivors to take control of their health by offering credible educational materials, comprehensive resources and a roadmap for all those impacted by the disease to live healthier, happier and longer lives. The CTC opened the Center for Survivorship in 2013 to lead the field of cancer survivorship care in the areas of nutrition, exercise and psychosocial support and has impacted the lives of thousands of cancer survivors since 2005.
