How Was It Done? City hired a planner with a vision

Developed a Downtown Master Plan

All projects had to be approved by the planner

Concerns of pedestrians and bicyclists were foremost

Utility companies were required to better the existing conditions when improving their facilities.

FDOT was skeptical of traffic calming measures on state roads.

Traffic capacity was reduced

Ultimately the City residents and Business realized that the projects improved the City

FDOT has Bike / Pedestrian coordinators

All projects get reviewed by the coordinator

Every effort is made to add bike lanes and pedestrian amenities

Design Standards created for Bike Lanes on all projects except Limited Access facilities
