CSR HIGHLIGHTS
I. CSR Activities taken up during the month:
There has been considerable progress in many CSR activities during the month.
1. Skill Development
a) The short-term Skill Development Training Program in trade Customer Care
Executive (Relationship Centre) for 200 hours (35 days) has been completed for all
the 60 trainees by Skill Development Institute- Visakhapatnam.
b) Training of 40 women artisans in traditional art forms such as Madhubani painting,
Applique patchwork, embroidery, etc. has been completed by Deshbandhu
Jankalyan Evam Seva Vikas Parishad in Patna, Bihar. The closing ceremony for the
skill enhancement training of women artisans in the above-mentioned trades was
organized in March 2021 and the event was graced by Independent Director, Dr. Sita
Sinha along with RINL team members from Patna Office.
2. Health & Nutrition:
a) Preventive healthcare: Awareness & early detection can save several lives and is a
necessary step towards preventive healthcare. To build awareness about Common
cancers among women and conduct cancer screening for early detection of Cancer,
RINL initiated a pilot project covering 320 females (mothers of few students from
Visakha Vimala Vidyalaya Schools). The project was on a hold due to COVID-19, but
has been resumed to cover all the selected mothers and female staff members of the
two schools.
b) The ongoing Mid-day meal program aims at combating classroom hunger by
providing nutritious mid-day meals to needy children belonging to BPL Families.
The program is going on smoothly, serving students as required.
c) Visteel Mahila Samiti (VMS) carried out activities involving distribution of “Aayushi
Kits” to school children to boost immunity and prevent infections. Covid-prevention
kits were also distributed to vegetable/ fruit vendors and Auto-drivers to prevent
community level spread. They also donated much needed objects such as ceiling fans,
refrigerator and washing machine to a welfare home and Home for abandoned
physically/ intellectually disabled children.

d) Awareness on Covid-19 Precautions in Aspirational Districts: Campaigns for
generation of awareness on precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-
19 is in progress. The activity is taken up while delivering services through Mobile
Health Care camps in the surrounding villages of the Plant within Visakhapatnam
District. Around 431 beneficiaries of CSR/CER initiatives were made aware about
precautionary measures & COVID-19 vaccination to prevent the spread of COVID-
19.
3. Education:
a) Special repairs for Government Junior College at V. Madugula village of
Visakhapatnam District are in progress. The work was taken up by AP Samagra
Siksha Abhiyaan, Visakhapatnam.
b) ‘Siksha’: RINL has been instrumental in providing quality education to more than
1600 students belonging to BPL families from surrounding villages of the Plant, JLM
and MDM Mines.
c) Arunodaya Special School: Arunodaya Special School is a multi-category schooling
center which caters to the children with intellectual disabilities such as: learning
impairment, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism, hearing loss, down
syndrome, etc. With a view to promote special education, RINL has been extending
financial support to meet the deficit expenditure of the school since beginning under
CSR. Nearly 115 specially-able children from surrounding villages of the Plant
receive education, therapy and vocational training by the school.
d) On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we conducted an awareness session
for adolescent girl students of Gloria Vidya Kendrum School, on Menstrual Hygiene
Management, Nutrition and Good Health, Parivartan - a zero-budget initiative
aiming to promote adolescent girl heath through education.
4. Senior Citizen Care & Women Empowerment:
a) Adoption of destitute, abandoned Elderly: 30 abandoned and destitute elderly
residents staying at an old age being run by SHEOWS, have been adopted for a
period of one year starting from December 2020. The elderly persons are being

provided with essential care in the form of nutritious food, clothing, shelter and
medical services.
b) Manakosam (Community CCTV Project): The project entails installation of
community CCTV surveillance system in the areas surrounding Steel Plant to be used
by the Police to enhance the security of persons residing in these areas, especially the
women. As a part of this Project, 90 CCTV cameras have been installed in 30 locations
in and around the Plant.
5. Rural Development:
a) RINL is extending financial support for providing additional facilities at Multi-
Purpose Hall Jaggayyapeta by providing compound wall, CC drains & approach
road and all round flooring through JLM Municipal Administration.
b) Construction of high level platforms and illumination in the weekly market place at
Kotha Thanda village near Madaram Dolomite Mines, in the aspirational district of
Khammam, is completed.
6. Swachh Bharath & Safai Pakhwada:
a) Safai Pakhwada: As per the calendar, Safai Pakhwada was observed by TTI, MDC
and Corporate Communications Departments in the first fortnight of March 2021 and
by Sports and Vigilance Departments in the second fortnight.
b) Swachh Bharat: In addition to Safai Pakhwada activities, 115 Shram Daan activities
involving 1573 employees were reported during the month. Improving hygienic
conditions at work place, cleaning, disposal of unwanted, sanitation etc. were taken
up in various departments under Swachhata activities. The activities were carried
out adhering to COVID-19 precautions and maintaining safe social distancing.
c) Swachhata Pakhwada: In line with the communication received from the Ministry
of Steel, “Swachhata Pakhwada” was observed at RINL from 16th to 31st March 2021.
During the fortnight, 28th March was observed as Steel Safety Day and various Shram
Daan and Awareness programmes were organized on ‘Hygiene and Sanitation’ &
‘curbing of Single Use Plastic’ during the fortnight.

Mobile Health Care: RINL is extending Health Care Services to surrounding areas of the Plant by Mobile Healthcare Unit, through Help Age India, under a CER initiative to the elderly and vulnerable at their doorstep. The following is a ‘health camp’ at Pedamada village.
14 Tricycles, 10,240 Red and Green household Dust Bins and 56 number of large size dust bins and other sanitation utilities were handed over to Sanitation workers for Solid Waste Management - a CER initiative promoting ODF plus in seven panchayats of Munagapaka Mandal in Visakhapatnam District.

Active wheel chairs and other adaptive devices were handed over to 33 beneficiaries through “The ability People”.
Awareness on Covid-19 precautions & vaccination during mobile health camps:
Medical Camp: As a CER initiative, a Medical camp, 7th in the series, was organized with
the help of Sri Satya Sai Seva Samithi, Ukkunagaram, facilitated by a team of Doctors and
Paramedical staff. This integrated Medical was organized at Bongaram tribal village of
Visakhapatnam District serving 521 tribal population.
