What is an Interview?
A communication between minimum
two :expert and candidate
Arranged to examine the suitability
of the candidate.
Tested for subject knowledge, skills
and desired behaviour in a very
limited time.
TYPES OF INTERVIEW

1. Screening Interview-
Elimination technique to shortlist
the candidates.
Usually telephonic interview.
Do’s while telephonic interview-
Seriousness
Proper voice modulation
If the candidate is not able to take the
call, he should tell the proper reason
to call him back.
Sometimes caller tune also matters.
2. Information Gathering or
Background Information interview -
May be face to face or telephonic.
They call the candidate and can do
the counter question regarding the
information that is given in resume.
3. Unstructured or campus
interview-
Brush up all the probable key points.
One should know how much relevant
information is to be delivered to make
interview effective.
4. Skill based interview-
Can be a group interview.
In this type, one question is asked to
all the candidates or it is a type of
GD.
In this, confidence, awareness and
communication skills are checked.
5. Case interview-
Hypothetical situation is given.
Focus on analytical and problem
solving skills.
GROUP INTERVIEW + CASE
INTERVIEW is usually done in these
days.
6. Cognitive interview-
•Situation and end result is there.
•We have to frame procedure, reason that
can lead to this end result and situation.
•This type of interview usually takes
place in defence, police and journalism.
7. Ladder interview-
We have to find the variety response
pushed up or backup by subconscious
motive.
Usually occurs in marketing and
where behavior analysis is to be done.
8. Technical interview-
Extensive examination of skill set
or knowledge
Also called indepth interview
9. Onsite interview-
Candidates interacts with staff and
ask questions.
Judgment- Based on how one
reacts ,how much quisitive,
interacting or how one responses
to statements.
10. Personality interview-
Begins with behavioral interview
and in this analytical situation is given.
We have to do STAR perform.
Star performance basically includes

Test level of stress, anxiety and

Aptitude, reasoning and
psychometric test
Takes place in IAS and defense
14. Meal interview-
Interview at table
Non-verbal communication, manners,
table manners, behavior(socialamiable ,
introvert, extrovert) are checked.
Response to alcohol should be

15. Selection interview-
Face to face / panel interview
Also called committee interview
and sequential interview
This type of interview takes place
for the posts of doctors and scientists.
16. Online interview- Now a days final interview is oftenly the
online interview.
CASI- computer assistant self interview
CATI- computer assistant telephonic interview
CAPI-computer assistant personal interview
This type of interview takes place in case of
research and shopping malls
17. Presentation interview –
Prepare a ppt on a given topic.
New thing in this type of interview
is- show resume in ppt format.
Judging criteria- dress, language ,
background, education.

Video, web/ conferencing

If there is one post and the
candidates is two then follow up
interview takes place.
Both candidate is called for interview.
Same panel and same set of question
is thrown.
The candidate who is given the best
answer is chosen in this type of
interview.
20. Information interview –
Candidates go to the organizations
to talk about opening
if interaction is good then the
candidate may get the direct call
from the company
21. Entrance and graduation
interview –
Usually feedback interview.
This type of interview usually takes
place in graduation ceremony to ask
about journey in the college.
22. Appraisal interview –
1st way- first feedback and work
hard.
2nd way- give presentation about
work and future aspect and depend
on that appraisal is based.
23. Exit interview –
When candidate want to exit, usually done
to retain the candidate back and conference
them and sort out the problem.
Never show one to one person name and
name of person with whom have the problem.
