CSMCRI is a National laboratory under CSIR. The Institute undertakes a wide range of R&D projects in marine chemicals, coordination chemistry, catalytic transformations, membrane separation, solar thermal applications, marine algae, stress tolerant plant, and stress genomics. The Institute has excellent infrastructure by way of sophisticated analytical instruments, modern laboratories, pilot plants, library, local area network and workshop. He/she will undertake experimental work as required and also assist in equipment design, preparation of P&I diagram, plant layout etc. He/she will additionally participate in process/technology demonstration to clients. Essential Educational Qualification : 10 + 2 with Science subjects followed by First Class Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Petrochemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / equivalent of 3 years fulltime duration (2/2.5 years full time duration in cases of lateral admission after 10+2 if applicable) or its equivalent. Desirable: 2 years experience in software like AutoCAD, Pro/ENGINEER, ANSYS etc. 1.2 Technical Assistant, Mechanical Engineering (1 Post) [Reserved for ST] : Job Description: The candidate will be engaged in different types of jobs related to mechanical engineering. He/she should be capable of rectifying mechanical problems which may develop in equipment/machines. He/she should also be capable of fabricating various equipments as required by the scientists. He/she may also be required to undertake travel for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of plants/equipment. Essential Educational Qualification: 10 + 2 with Science subjects followed by First Class Diploma in Mechanical Engg/Tech. of 3 years fulltime duration (2/2.5 years full time duration in cases of lateral admission after 10+2 if applicable) or its equivalent.

Desirable: 2 years relevant experience with hands on experience in different machineries like lathe machine, milling machine, CNC, drilling machine, shearing machine, cutter & grinder machine etc. 1.3 Technical Assistant, Electrical Engineering (1 Post) [Reserved for ST]: Job Description: The candidate will have to contribute towards a variety of activities such as carrying out of all types of electrical installations, maintenance work including substations and D.G. sets, electrical safety audit, energy audit, troubleshooting, etc. He/she may also be required to undertake travel for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of plants/equipment. Essential Educational Qualification: 10 + 2 with Science subjects followed by First Class Diploma in Electrical Engg /Tech. of 3 years fulltime duration (2/2.5 years full time duration in cases of lateral admission after 10+2 if applicable) or its equivalent. Desirable: 2 years relevant experience. 1.4 Technical Assistant, Library and Information Science (1 Post) [UR]: Job Description: The candidate will be involved in a variety of duties, including acquisition of books and periodicals, circulation related duties, maintenance of patron database, receiving and invoicing items in acquisition module, generating statistical reports for print periodicals, etc. Essential Educational Qualification: First Class B.Sc. (Sci.) with B.Lib.Sc. Desirable: 1-2 years relevant experience in a computerized library and knowledge of library software, e-resources and databases is desirable. 2. Technical Officer: 06 Posts (3 UR & 3 OBC) 2.1 Technical Officer, Chemical/Production Engineering (1 Post) [OBC]: Job Description: The candidate will be engaged in operation of a state of art 0.75 TPD test bed for integrated production of potash, magnesia and ammonium sulphate. The candidate will also work towards implementation of continuous improvements in the process, computation of process economics, demonstration of knowhow to potential clients, etc. Essential Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Chemical/Production Engineering or Chemical Technology with 55% marks. Desirable: 2 years experience in production related job preferably in fertilizer or inorganic chemical industry. 2.2 Technical Officer, Mechanical Engineering/Polymer Engineering (1 Post) [UR]: Job Description: The incumbent will be engaged in installation and operation of a state of art test bed for large scale production and demonstration of indigenous membrane technologies. This will include work related to membrane production, module fabrication, and performance evaluation. The candidate must have

sound knowledge of relevant machinery and aptitude for trouble shooting of problems and devising solutions. Essential Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical/Polymer Engineering with 55% marks. Desirable: 2 years experience in production related job preferably in the textiles, paper or surface coating industries. 2.3 Technical Officer, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering (1 Post) [Reserved for OBC]: Job Description: The incumbent will have to provide engineering expertise for PLC control, instrumentation and automation systems, and work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team engaged in areas such as solar energy, chemical processes, membrane production process, and prototype development. He/she will have to additionally provide assistance with design, procurement, installation, configuration and operation of such automation systems. Essential Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics/Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering with 55% marks. Desirable: 2 years experience in the area of the job. 2.4. Technical Officer, Civil Engineering (1 Post) [UR] : Job Description: The incumbent will be engaged in R&D activities which require civil engineering inputs, e.g., layout and construction of solar salt pans, rainwater harvesting structures in wasteland, etc. The candidate may additionally have to assist in maintenance activities, planning of renovation and expansion of infrastructure, preparation of estimates, tender papers, etc. Essential Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Civil Engineering with 55% marks. Desirable: 2 years hands on experience in civil engineering activities and in use of software like AutoCAD. 2.5. Technical Officer, Planning (1 Post) [OBC] : Job Description: The incumbent will be engaged in proactive macro- and micro-planning for the short, medium and long term based on emerging R&D needs and opportunities, projection of resource availability, mapping of HR profile, analysis of performance indicators, etc. Additional responsibilities would include creation and maintenance of databases. Essential Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in any branch of engineering with 55% marks. Desirable: 2 years experience in planning/data analysis/system engineering/management.

2.6. Technical Officer, Technical Services (1 Post) [UR] :

Job Description: The incumbent will work closely with concerned scientists to prepare preliminary technical notes on developed technologies/knowhow, disseminate the information widely, and respond to queries. He/she will also ensure timely submission of project reports/technology transfer-related documents to project sponsors/licensees and monitor compliance with the various clauses as stipulated in agreements. Additional responsibilities would include assistance with compilation of various reports and maintenance of specific databases. Essential Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology with 55% marks. Desirable: 2 years experience in promotion/forecasting/assessment of technologies in chemical sector. GENERAL CONDITIONS : 1. Age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC candidates and certain other categories as notified by the Central Government from time to time. Relaxation in age for other entitled categories shall be admissible as per the Govt. of India/CSIR rules. 2. Relaxation in age limit up to five years may be allowed to the Council / Government / Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard. 3. Relaxation in age limit, qualification and / or experience in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates may be considered as per rules. 4. The cut-off date for determining the age, qualification and experience of a candidate will be the last date of receipt of applications.

5. All applications received will be screened and suitable number of candidates will be short-listed for interview. Mere fulfillment of essential educational qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The decision of the Director, CSMCRI, in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection etc. will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this regard from any candidate.

8. OBC candidates must enclose, with their applications, a copy of OBC certificate in the prescribed Performa in terms of Dept. of Per. & Trg., O.M. No. 36033/28/94-Estt. (SCT), dated 23.11.1995 prescribed by the Government of India. 9. The selected candidates shall be required to acquire the knowledge of Hindi during the period of probation, if not already possessing the same.

10. The period of experience in the requisite discipline / area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualifications required for the post.

11. The service is pensionable based on defined contribution under the “New Pension Scheme” for new entrants as made applicable to Council employee’s w.e.f. 1.1.2004. However, persons selected from the Government Departments/ Public Sector Undertakings and Government Autonomous Bodies having Pension Scheme on the Government of India pattern will continue to be governed by the existing Pension Scheme i.e. CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972. 12.
