Mohan, Past President, Computer Society of India On 28 September 2017, it was a proud moment for Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad to have Sri H.R. Mohan, Past President, Computer Society of India along with Dr. P. Sakthivel, Chairman, IEEE Computer Society, Madras Chapter in the campus. Both the guests were welcomed by Prof. D.K. Dwivedi, Director (Capacity Building & Entrepreneurship). Prof. Dwivedi briefed the guests about various courses run by Shambhunath Group of Institutions & academic achievements within a short span of time & also about social activities & achievements of Utthan NGO in whose flagship institutions are running. Prof. Radha Raman, HOD, CSE, Prof. Parikshit Agrawal, Prof. Abhishek Kumar Pandey, Student Coordinator, CSI-SIET Student Branch and other faculty members of Department of Computer Science & Engineering, SIET, Allahabad were present on the occasion. Sri H.R. Mohan deliberated about the role of professional societies such as IEEE, ACM, CSI, IETE, ISTE etc. in grooming faculty & students for Research & Development, Industry requirements & Academic environment. Dr. P. Sakthivel emphasized the need for the establishment of chapters of IEEE & ACM and organizing more technical events in association with these professional societies in future to give wide exposure to the faculty & students of SIET, Allahabad. Both the guests took a round of various departments and laboratories in the campus.

Visit of Sri H.R. Mohan, Past President, Computer Society of India On 28 September 2017, it was a proud moment for Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad to have Sri H.R. Mohan, Past President, Computer Society of India along with Dr. P. Sakthivel, Chairman, IEEE Computer Society, Madras Chapter in the campus. Both the guests were welcomed by Prof. D.K. Dwivedi, Director (Capacity Building & Entrepreneurship).

Workshop on Virtual Laboratories at IITK

On Sept. 16, 2017, 9 faculty members from SIET, Allahabad participated in the Workshop on Virtual Laboratories organized by IITK under the TEQIP-III programme of MHRD, New Delhi. Workshop was inaugurated by Prof.Vinay Kumar Pathak, Vice Chancellor, Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow.

SIET, Allahabad has been approved to be Nodal Centre of Virtual Laboratory Programme of IITK as per communication dated 28.11.2017 of IITK.

At the end of session, Prof. D.K. Dwivedi was invited to present memento to Dr.D.P. Mishra, Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, IITK.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme: Million Minds-Accelerate Startup Talk On Sept. 8, 2017, Entrepreneurship Cell, SGI in association with "Millionminds” organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme Cum Accelerate-The Startup Talk with an objective to ignite the Entrepreneurial Spirit amongst the young minds. The event started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the invited speakers. Prof. D.K. Dwivedi, Director, Entrepreneurship Cell, SGI welcomed the invited speakers (three entrepreneurs and a professor from MNNIT teaching entrepreneurship since last few decades) and introduced each of them to the participants. He emphasized that students are the best judge to analyze their capability and they must decide their career path as per their own interest. Entrepreneurship is for those who have some innovative ideas about doing business. Angel investors are willing to invest huge amount on innovative & promising business models. Invited speakers were Dr. Geetika, Dean, School of Management Sciences, MNNIT, Allahabad who have been 30+ years teaching experience and participated in various international level events related to Entrepreneurship. teaching; Er. Panav Agrawal, CEO, Vapsoft Pvt. Limited who established his IT/ITES company at Allahabad almost 10 years back and its revenue is 30+crore per annum. Sri Pankaj Mehrotra, Founder, Trident Enterprises executed several IT/ITES projects and is successfully running his venture since last more than 25 years; Sri Ankit Deora, Founder, Bean Here is a young serial entrepreneur. Speakers discussed about the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship in current scenario in our country. as well as motivated students to be job provider rather than to be job seeker. Prof. Pradeep Pandey, Director, Corporate Resource Centre handed over memento to the speakers.

On the occasion, a quiz was also organized to ignite the thrust for entrepreneurial knowledge. Sri Neeraj Pandey, volunteer, E-Cell organized the quiz.

Workshop on Automation in UPSRTC & visit to Regional Workshop On Oct.10, 2017, visit of students of Mechanical Engineering to Regional Workshop of UPSRTC at Jhunsi was organized to give them onsite exposure of the functioning of the regional workshops, infrastructural & maintenance facilities for the buses of Allahabad Region. Students were given orientation as well as hands-on training of the diagnosis & maintenance of automobile parts.

Industry visit to IFFCO, Phulpur On Nov.11,2017, industry visit of students of Department of Computer Sc. & Engg. was organized to IFFCO to get them acquainted with the automation and usage of ICT in Fertilizer Industry.

R-SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL TO ESTABLISH FIVE IOT CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE WITH AKTU INCLUDING AT SIET, ALLAHABAD

On Dec. 18, 2017, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh and R Systems International Limited for the establishment of Centre of Excellence for Internet of Things at NOIDA Campus of AKTU. On the occasion, Prof. V.C. Pathak, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vineet Kansal, Dean, UGSE, Directors/ Chairpersons of the five engineering institutes selected in Phase-I of the programme, Sri Avirag Jain, Executive Vice President & Sri Prem Goswami, Vice President, R System International Limited were present. SIET, Allahabad is selected as one of the Nodal Centre(s) amongst first five engineering Institutes in whole State.

HACKATHON On Oct.10, 2017, HACKATHON was organized by CSI-SIET Student Branch in association with CSI Allahabad Chapter and ISTE SIET Chapter.

Event comprising two levels was conducted using the HACKEREARTH platform. The first level comprised MCQs to test the technical knowledge of participants relating to coding on any programming languages of one’s own choice. 200+ students participated in the first level. 40 students were shortlisted for the next level. The next level was a Clock based MCQ for judging the student’s knowledge related to the stream of Computer Science & Engineering. Following participants were declared winners: Winner: Jwala Prasad Dubey, B.Tech. CSE 2nd yr 1st Runner Up: Sriya Anand Mishra, B.Tech. CSE 3rd yr 2nd Runner Up: Nischay Kumar, B.Tech. CSE 2nd yr
