• Identify specific sponsor and program•Discuss with CSBS Grants & Contracts Officer• If private/non-profit sponsor, obtain clearance from CSUN Foundation.•Match project to sponsor goals. Contact sponsor’s Program Officer.•Develop plan for preparing proposal

•Contact CSBS Grants Officer to draft budget.•Develop project timeline, abstract •Draft subcontract scope of work, budget•Define your effort to be devoted to project•Contact ORSP Grants Coordinator to contact subcontractors and finalize budget.

•Complete PAF (Proposal Approval Form)•Attach abstract, budget, budget justification, COI, (supplemental COI, 700-U if required).

3 weeks prior to deadline: Complete PAF
Attach abstract, budget and budget justification, COI, supplemental FCOI, 700-U Submit to Department Chair for signature.
14 days prior to deadline for external funders: Submit PAF to CSBS Grants Officer for review and Dean’s
signature. Include abstract, budget, budget justification, COI, supplemental COI, 700-U
NOTE: If more than one department or college, respective chairs/deans must also sign.
7 days prior to deadline for internal support: Submit complete final application to dept. Chair. 5 days prior: Dean’s Office for review and signature.
CSBS Grants Officer will deliver signed PAF/application direct to ORSP or university office prior to deadline, with scanned copy to PI/PD.
