Sr. Kathy Andrews was reelected to her position as First Assistant, and Sr. Marian Durkin was elected as Councilor. The elections were the culmination of the four month process of meetings, retreats and prayers that is used to discern the leadership team. Sr. Judith Ann served as Major Superior from 1993-1997. Prior to that and since, she has been an integral member of the Sisters of Charity Health System, where she is currently the President and CEO. In that position she oversees all the sponsored ministries of CSA, including five hospitals, three foundations, services to the elderly, and community outreach ministries. Sr. Judith Ann entered CSA in 1964. She began her career in health care as a pharmacy technician at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center before moving on to administration. Sr. Judith Ann received her Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Duquesne University. She also has a Master’s of Science in hospital and health services administration from The Ohio State University. Sr. Kathy Andrews has spent the last four years as the First Assistant. Prior to that, she served as the Local Leader for the sisters residing at Mt. Augustine. She holds a Master’s Degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University and is a certified pastoral minister for the Diocese of Cleveland with accreditation by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. She has experience in pastoral ministry in several venues including Assumption Parish in Brook Park; Mercy Medical Center in Canton; and Busch Funeral Home in Parma. Within CSA, she has ministered as Director of Formation, Novice Director, and Director of Associates. (l-r) Sr. Margaret Mach, SC, Most Rev. Richard G. It reveals to me your connectedness and your on-going energy to continue the legacy of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine. You have revealed that Face of God to me through you kindness and goodness, through your struggles and your successes. I am humbled and filled with gratitude. Thank you all for being a part of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine – sisters, associates, co-ministers, employees, board members and friends. Water, Water Everywhere

For several years the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA) considered the need to convert the water supply at Mt. Augustine from well to city water.

With the age of the water system, the demands placed on it and the EPA’s increasingly demanding regulations, having a new source for water was seen as an important issue. While it was determined the solution would be very costly, the decision was made to proceed with the project to bring water from the City of Cleveland. To do this, approvals were needed from the several government entities including Summit County Department of Environmental Services (DOES), City of Cleveland Division of Water (CWD), Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Summit Soil & Water Conservation District (SSWCD), and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Activity began in February 2011, with development of plans for the project, discussion of ownership and a loan application. Zoning and ownership were the two main hurdles to clear before the work could begin. It was a long, slow process, but clearance was finally received. Requests for bids were sent and, in August of 2011, they were reviewed and discussed by the CSA Board of Trustees. Questions were raised and further information was sought. Once these were resolved, Ty Contractors was chosen to do the exterior work, and S. A. Comunale Co. Inc. was selected to do the interior work in the building.

In the spring of 2012, everything was in place and the construction began; the job was completed that fall. In the end, the benefits of bringing the regulated water supply to Mt. Augustine far outweigh any of the difficulties that were encountered; those at Mt. Augustine Center are very pleased to have the connection to city water.
