Ignore  it!  Avoid  it!  Deny  it!  Untreated  Hearing  Loss  is  a  Serious  Issue.  The  impact  of  hearing  loss  extends  beyond  communication  problems.  People  with  untreated  hearing  loss  have  a  lower  quality  of  life  that  may  affect  their  emotional,  social  and  even  their  physical  well-‐being.  Keeping  up  with  conversations  and  overcoming  the  anxiety  of  being  in  social  settings  may  result  in  stress-‐related  psychological  symptoms.

Our  Professionals  Can  Help

Living  with  Hearing  Loss  CS  team  members  are  trained  Peer  Mentors  who  work  with  people  who  are  making  the  transition  from  hearing  to  hearing  aids.    Our  knowledge  and  skill  acquired  from  meeting  and  working  with  hundreds  of  people  with  hearing  loss,  along  with  our  life  experience  can  instill  hope  and  confidence  in  the  newly-‐  diagnosed  or  progressive  hearing  loss  patient.

Hearing  Loss  Help  is  Here

Staff  Training  Social  and  Senior  Services  staff  encounter  people  with  hearing  loss  every  day.    Recognizing  the  impact  of  hearing  loss,  along  with  effective  communication  strategies,  provide  understanding  and  skills  to  support  successful  communication  and  improve  effectiveness  in  delivering  services.

Assistive  Listening  Technology    Assistive  listening  devices  (ALDs)  enhance  individual  and  group  communication  in  a  broad  range  of  settings.      Telephones  designed  especially  for  people  with  hearing  loss  can  amplify  and  caption  calls  and  restore  independence.    Families,  friends,  co-‐workers,  and  service  providers  all  benefit  from  supported  communication.
