Crystal demonstrates exemplary writing and story telling skills. A consummate observer, she often sees things others don’t and captures moments reflectively. Whether writing a media ethics essay, poetry, script for a documentary or social media describing her adventures in Costa Rica, she articulates thoughts, ideas and complexity very well. She continues to challenge herself to approach the world and ask questions-all skills needed for today’s reporters. One opportunity to push herself made her forfeit recognition as the Senior Scholar for the school, an award given to the student graduating with the highest GPA. She opted to complete her dual major in language, rather than finish early and earn this prestigious honor. While not a native bilingual speaker, Crystal has immersed herself in Latino culture through trips aboard and the art of Latin dance. Her passion and nurturing approach are contagious and winning. She may appear timid, but has a quiet fearlessness and unending curiosity. Please seriously consider her application for this internship opportunity. Sincerely,

To the selection committee for the Politico Magazine 2016 Summer Internship:

I am writing on behalf of Crystal Powell, whom I have had the opportunity to teach and mentor as lecturer for media ethics for Reynolds School.

Sincerely,

Alison
