BEHIND THE PROJECT

HOW DID IT START?

• In 1994, Kleiton was playing soccer professionally for the San Francisco United Soccer Club,

• In the same year, Kleiton was also hired to be an informant for the Brazilian National Team during the 1994 World Cup, hosted by the USA.

• After coaching high school age girls for a couple of years, Kleiton was hired by Santos FC to lead its pioneer women’s soccer project called “The Mermaids of Santos FC” (Santos FC Professional women’s team).

• After 14 consecutive years in charge of Santos FC and many Reginal & National championships, Kleiton was hired to coach the Brazilian National team.

SPY INSTITUTIONIn 1995 Kleiton decided to go back to Brazil to pursue other interests, including

coaching…and the INSTITUTION SPY was founded.

THE INSTITUTION •The institution SPY is a non-for profit organization located in the city of Itanhaem, South America - Brazil.

•SPY is committed to reaching out to the unprivileged neighborhood communities by providing sports-based social projects.

•Amongst the projects are: ESL classes (English as a Second Language) — Futsal/Soccer classes and clinics — Tennis lessons — Overall athletic activities (relay races, fun-day camps, etc)

• Currently these projects serve 120 kids (boys and

girls) between the ages of 8 and 15.

• Kids are divided by age groups, gender and school

commitment (time of classes)

• Projects are run by volunteers who recognize and

believe that sport is a great avenue to instill solid

core values and social skills.

THE MISSIONSPY utilizes sports as a means to get children and adolescents out of streets for reasons already known (drugs, violence, etc). SPY provides these kids with the opportunity to maximize their productivity in society through sportsmanship and incentive to cultural elements.

PATH TO SUCCESS

• Francielle & Rosana are

two of the athletes SPY has

lead to a successful careers.

Both athletes now play for

the Brazilian National

Soccer Team.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HELP THE SPY INSTITUTION?

“IT MEANS TO BE PART OF A SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL TRANSFORMATION IN THE LIVES OF HUNDREDS OF
