do you have Tx antique Car Tags? They are due for renewal in March!

Some of us didn’t receive renewal notices in the mailfor some reason. If you don’t have the notice, you can’t

renew on line. You will have to take your title to a tag office to renew. The plates will then be mailed to you. They will give you a small metal plate and the March 2023 sticker, to use if you’re using old vintage tags. You don’t need the plate, if you’re using the new Texas Antique Car Tag, just stick it on.

Are you getting club e-mails?If you’re not, please contact John Zachary at

Autorama

Our club had a six-Corvette display at the Dallas Autorama again this year. It featured John Spencer’s Charcoal & Silver 1958, Bill Preston’s Black & White Fuel Injected 1957, Al Macdonald’s Red & White 1960, John Zach-ary’s Red1965 Roadster, Jack “Rude Dog” Hays’ Glen Green 1965 Coupe and Kimberly Atchley’s Black Custom 1962-Bodied 2005 Convertible. As always our display of classic and unusual Corvettes kept our members busy talking to spectators all weekend. We even signed up new mem-bers, Matt & Darlene Tidwell. We had a Patriot Paws table prominently at the corner of our display. We collected $969 to be given to them. Thanks to all our Legends members who helped staff the display to promote our club and Patriot Paws. A special thanks to Jerry

Echols, Legends’ Special Events VP. His efforts to take care of all the details for Autorama AND the New Car Show, which occurred at the same time this year, were amazing. We sincerely appreciate his time to

recruit members to show their cars, to coordinate with both shows for space, and transport stantions, signs, tables, chairs, etc. for our displays.

CORVETTE LEGENDS OF TEXAS GENERAL MEETING

Saturday, February 10, 2018BJ Roadhouse, Addison

The Members of Corvette Legends were called to order by Sam Deneault, President at 12:10 PM. There were no January minutes due to the After Holiday Party. New Club Members: James Brummett, (2017 Torch Red Patriotic-Themed Coupe) and Jeff Sebert (son of Don Sebert) Guest: Gary Strobel, C6 Lady Legends Winner: Linda Dobbs 50-50 Pot Winner: Ken Dobbs Diane Preston, editor of the newsletter, was recog-nized for the great job she does with a new name tag that includes her title: Editor-In-Chief. Tom Lainson reported that in 2017 the club added 7 new members; dropped 17 members. As of the end of 2017, club members have 35 C1s, 40 C2s, 33 C3s, 22 C4s, 22 C5s, 42 C6s, and 23 C7s. Jerry Echols needed more cars for the New Car Show, since we are in two competing car shows the week of February 14-18: Autorama and Dallas New Car Show. Also need help at the Autorama for break-down after the show on February 18. Final count at the Dallas New Car Show was ten cars. NOTE: There will be no brunch in February due to the auto shows. Mary Jean Entrekin announced a dinner cruise for

March 17 to Pilot Point with dinner at Bebo’s Café. John Zachary reminded members to let him know when they change their e-mail address. Also, Len Wood-ruff responded to John’s request for assistance with the club web site. The After Holiday Party received good reviews, thanks to the diligent work of Tom Atchison and Bill Pres-ton. Tom reminded members that Huffines Chevrolet has lots of cars. He ended with a personal announcement - “Happiness is…a new puppy.” Guest speaker was Tyler Hill, son of member Rick Scholz, who described his experiences with hybrid cars, specifically his Volt and also his driving experience with the Tesla. He provided a lot of technical information, including the difference between series hybrids (like the Volt) and parallel hybrids (like the Ford). An interesting sidelight was the changes in driving habits to accom-modate the recharging of the battery when going from electric to gas power. Sam Deneault announced that Tom Douglas’ daugh-ter is planning a memorial raffle in his honor – still work-ing on the details. Bill Preston has again arranged for space at Good Guys on March 9-11 for soliciting donations for Patriot Paws. Don Siebert’s Porche club is also now a sponsor of Patriot Paws. Meeting Adjourned at 1:00 PM.

We signed up new members Matt & Darlene Tidwell who were showing their C-1 in the Lone Star Corvette Club display. Rick & Virginia Herrick had their C-2 in the Lone Star display too. Kudos to all our members at the show for solving a problem on John Zachary’s C-4. The hood latch cable came lose and he was unable to open the hood to re-connect his bat-tery at the end of the show. Looking at the pictures, it looks like maybe Rick Scholz did most of the dirty work. They eventually took off the side panel to gain access to re-con-nect the battery. Then Sam Deneault drove it to John’s house leaving him to figure out how to fix the hood latch problem.
