[Seed #4 Purpose]This means that things like
chanting, meditation and yoga
seem to some of us to be pretty dry
compared with connecting with
a deeply personal God and to waking up
to a sense of authentic purpose.
The God of the Bible really does liberate
usfrom a life without purpose
in a way that is profound,
and can feel very
thrilling to many of us.
Has there been a time in your life when you
felt particularly close to God?
If youre drawn to
the idea of God being intensely personal,
or even if youre just curious, wed love
for you to visit us at our church!

[Seed #4 Purpose]In factthe Bible calls for
a complete redesign of our loyalties;
Jesus told His top disciples,
"As the Father has loved me,
so have I loved you.
Now remain in my love.
If you obey my commands, you will remain in
my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's
commands and remain in his love.
You are my friends if you do what I command.
I no longer call you servants,
because a servant does not know
his master's business.
Instead, I have called you friends,
for everything that I learned from my Father
I have made known to you. "
(John 15:9-10, 14-16)

[Welcome]Jesus of Nazareth compared the afterlife
to a king
sending his servants
to invite people
to a dinner event.
The servants went into the highways
and gathered all whom they
foundboth bad and good.
(Matthew 22:10)
Some of us like the idea that both
the badand the good
get invited
to the afterlife.
And it also sounds
like an open invitation:
that agnostics & skeptics are
welcome to hear out his message
and judge for themselves.

[Seed #1 Curse]But His alarming message
is that He became a curse for humanity.
Jesus of Nazareth became a curse
to liberate those who are cursed.
Obviouslythings that sound strange
at first hearing
can turn out to be painfully accurate.
Like, were all made up of particles
that are in motion! And
the God of the Heavens isperfectly flawless
morally & spiritually.
And we are not flawless!

[Seed #3 Love]That 3 Person existence suggests
God was then and remains
infinitely personal & relational.
But most people are unaware of the strong
evidence from science that God is not an
impersonal force but a personal God.
So loyalty and love
preceded the material world;
the beginning of time followed
pre-existing love and loyalty.
And that is whatfrees some
of us from life without purpose
making our own attempts
at loyalty and love.

[Seed #3 Love] Jesus made several outrageous claims.
He not only claimed that God sent Him
to bear the weight of our curse
to restore our compatibility with God
He further claimed that whoever desires
His restoration can receive it by faith in Him.
But it poses a question.
assuming its true, what motivates
Gods strange generosity?
One of the reasons
behind Gods expressive generosity,
is that even before He made the world,
He existed as 1 God in 3 Persons.

[Seed #1 Curse]Despite our moral & spiritual efforts,
to be flawless is to be perfect.
Theres a terrible incompatibility
between the flawless God of the Heavens
and usin effect, acting as a curse.
And Jesus not only affirmed
a judgment in the afterlife
where our lack of flawlessness
will have become permanent
He claimed He
would be its Judge.

[Seed #2 Life]Its important to put together
what Jesus was claiming, so you can
gauge whether its persuasive.
Bottom line:
He became a curse
when He was hung on a tree.
But He personally demolished the curse
with His resurrection.
He now claims to be the One who can be
trustedto transfer us out of danger
with His own personal immortality.
The gift of eternal life
is Jesus resurrection somehow given as a gift.
And its the ultimate in true spiritual
inclusiveness and evenhandedness
because it is never earned
but always freely given.

[Seed #2 Life]By pouring His resurrectionlife
into our hearts Jesus protects us
from an unseen threat.
He said,
Whoever drinks of the water that
I shall give him will never thirst.
But the water that I shall give him
will become in him a fountain of water
springing up into everlasting life.
(John 4:14)
Whoever hears my word
and believes him who sent me
has eternal life and will not be judged
but has crossed over from death to life.
(John 5:24)
For this is the will of my Father,
that everyone who looks on the Son and
believes in Him should have eternal life,
and I will raise him up on the last day.
(John 6:40)
