THE MOST HOLY TRINITY JUNE 7, 2020
A Statement on Racism – The past couple of weeks, we have witnessed many peaceful protests, as well as non-peaceful protests, over the death of Mr. George Floyd. The National Council of Catholic Bishops, as well as many local bishops, has made statements condemning this senseless killing. Our Bishop, Robert Brennan, has made a statement as well. I was particularly struck by the statement made by Bishop Mark Brennan of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia, on June 1, 2020. You can Google his statement. I quote the beginning of his statement here: He entitles his statement: “Let Us Unite in Prayer For Peace” – “The killing of George Floyd was an egregious act of violence with no justification whatsoever, all the worse for having been perpetrated by some police officers who are sworn to serve and protect their fellow citizens. Most law enforcement officials are decent men and women who train hard to restrain any violent impulses and to be respectful as they deal with the public. Mr. Floyd did not meet that kind of police officer the day he was killed. I join with other Americans in prayer for Mr. Floyd, his family and friends and for the African-American community of Minneapolis and throughout our country. Every human being is made in God’s image and likeness and deserves respect and fair treatment.....”
Racism has no place in the life of a Christian. If we find it living within us, then we need to pray for healing and repent of it. I have experienced this firsthand in other parishes with prejudice against people of color. It is disgusting and repugnant to treat others with disdain because of the color of their skin. The Gospel of Jesus Christ calls us to be better than that, to be more than that, to see each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
I have had the privilege of working as a law enforcement chaplain for over seven years now. I have worked with many fine officers and deputies during this time, men and women who put their lives on the line daily to protect and serve all of us. It has been and continues to be a very fulfilling ministry.
I suggest we pray for The Black Community, Law Enforcement, victims of rioting and looting, the perpetrators of rioting and looting, our Government Officials, our Military, those who through the years have lost their lives because of the ugliness of racism, Our Country. May Christ’s gift of peace enter more and more into the hearts of all people.
In Christ, Fr. Mark Ghiloni

THANK YOU!I would like to thank our Parish Leadership Team for working so hard to prepare for our opening back up of church last weekend. We had nearly 60 people at each Mass. We still had plenty of room in classrooms to seat people who could watch the Mass on TV and then receive Communion from a Eucharistic Minister. I want to thank you for going along with the guidelines we have put in place. We will continue with the current schedule for a few more weeks to see how things are going. I hope we can resume our normal schedule before long.First Communion – Right now, we are planning to have several celebrations of First Communion so that extended family members can attend, keeping to our social distancing guidelines. We will begin these celebrations on Sunday, June 14, at 1:00 p.m. This is the Feast of Corpus Christi. Kelly Pertee will be contacting families to schedule them for particular times. Also, daily Mass is an option for receiving First Communion, as well. We hope to complete these celebrations by the end of June.Confirmation – Due to the Coronavirus, our celebration of Confirmation with Bishop Brennan in late May had to be cancelled. The Bishop’s Office will let us know when that celebration will be rescheduled. My guess is that it would be in the fall sometime. Fr. Mark Ghiloni
The Stay-at-Home order went into effect on March 23, 2020. Due to Covid-19 and working from home, we were unable to make deposits at normal regular intervals, so we are sharing the results of tithes and offerings for the last 15 days of March and the entire months of April and May. Our online giving and text to give programs were helpful in many ways. We’ve had 38 donors sign up.
