Advent Workshop and Decorating the Sanctuary for the Christmas Season on Saturday, December 3. The Advent Workshop will be held from 10 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. with lunch provided. We will be baking cookies, making ornaments, and writing notes for care packages to be sent to our students in college and the School of the Arts. The students will be taking finals the first week of December. We will begin to decorate the Chrismon Tree and the sanc-tuary at 12:30 p.m. Join us for all or part of this fun day. Please RSVP for the Advent Workshop by Thursday, De-cember 1, by calling the church office, 828-733-1939.
There will be a Kitchen and Fellowship Hall Workday on Thursday, December 8 from 9:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. We will have lunch afterwards
at Loaves and Fishes.
Sunday, November 20, Wor-ship 11:00 a.m.—12 noon.
Choir Practice at 9:00 a.m.
This Sunday, November 20, will be our Thanksgiving Potluck following our
Thanksgiv -ing Worship Service. Tur-key will be p r o v i d e d .
Please bring a holiday side dish to share.
Wednesday Bible Study, 3- 4:30 p.m. We are studying-the Book of Ruth. Come and find out what you have been missing. Join us for good
study, dis-cuss ion , and fel-lowship.
Our Mission Project for the next 3 weeks is the 2016 Presbyterian Build for Avery County Habitat for Human-ity. Our church pledged $5,000 and we have already
raised $2,500!
We are sharing Thanksgiv-ing with 19 individuals and families who are in need in our county. Each individual/family will receive a Thanks-giving Basket full of goodies and a grocery card. Members of our congregation will deliver the baskets before Thanksgiv-ing.
Bocky Smith’s memorial service will be held the morning of Saturday, No-vember 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Mary Agnes Smith, Bocky’s wife is Rachel Deal’s sister.
Sunday, No-vember 27, is the 1st Sun-day of Ad-vent. We will light the first candle of the
Advent Wreath. Use of the Advent wreath began in the time of Martin Luther and sym-bolizes the coming of Christ.
