HOW IT WAS STARTED???
• Changes and advancements in economic relationships, political systems, and technological options began to break down old cultural barriers.• Increasing pressure for universities across the world to incorporate
intercultural and international understanding and knowledge into the education of their students.

MEET - Middle East Education through Technology: Innovative educational initiative aimed at creating a common professional language between Israeli and Palestinian young leaders.
International educational organizations
• Business –The Internet and modern technology have opened up new marketplaces that allow us to promote our businesses to new geographic locations and cultures.
• Education – Education in foreign universities is opted by a lot of people
• Travel- people want to explore and learn more things by their own and to know different cultures and diversity.

• Jobs – Better jobs are present in the world and in order to catch them we need to avoid cross cultural barriers
• Influence People – People are more influenced if things are said in their language or done in their culture

In India only, there are lot of languages and accents. The
same goes for the world.
In some cultures it is okay for men to hake hands or hug each other as a greeting.
In India , they would join their hands together and slightly nod their heads as a greeting

What are some examples of differences??
Arabic language is written from right to left and almost all other languages are written form left to right.
• In Australia direct eye contact might show you are honest.
• In some Asian countries , it means that you are not respectful.

Understand the potential problems of cross-cultural communication
Make a conscious effort to overcome these problems.
Patient and forgiving, rather than hostile and aggressive, if problems develop.
Active listening
Intermediaries
Reduce the broadness of body language
Ask the locals how things are done
Practical activity – Watch foreign films
