Louise Hayward fromCromer has completedthe 300 mile London toParis bike rideContinued from front cover...

Louise said ‘the bike ride was great fun’ and with over 120 others taking part she was able to train with other bikers andthoroughly enjoyed the challenge. ‘The ride itself was very challenging, the first day involved a cycle ride of 100 miles, thesecond day provided an extra problem with head winds of over40 mph, but it was all worth it riding into Paris, where myfriends were waiting to greet me at the Eiffel Tower’.

Louise continues ‘it was a gruelling 4 days but the sense ofachievement was immense at the end of the ride, despite a fewaches and pains’. She finished with very few ill effects ‘down to extra training and thanks to my padded cycle shorts!!’

Louise believes that life is what you make it but that sometimesyou need to remember those who have shaped your life and remember to give something back.

Cromer Times 422 May 25th 2013 9

Cromer WIMay is our Resolution Meeting month and themonthly meeting was opened with plenty of livelydiscussion over the proposal of “The decline of ourHigh Street shops”. Although we all felt we would use our local shopswhere possible we could not dramatically change the situation nor stopthe march of time and therefore we voted against the proposal. The result of this will go forward to the WI AGM in Cardiff that will takeplace in June. After our break we carried on with the meeting. We haveouting arranged in the future for Ely Flower Festival, a Garden Party atHow Hill, a visit to Kings Lynn, a theatre visit to see Evita and a “PoshSummer Evening” where we will all get the chance to dress up and wearall the Bling. We had plenty of entries in our competition for a favouritescarf and this was won by Jill Betz. Trish Loth and Judy Roberts camesecond in the WI Norfolk Scrabble competition and Pat Fisher camesecond in our area completion for St. George’s Day with her beautifulhand sewn figures of St. George and a dragon. New members are alwayswelcome on the second Thursday of the month at 2.30pm in the Community Hall in Garden Street.

Lily B has just celebrated its second birthdayand what a way to do it. Since the lively andjam-packed opening day, the little boutique in Church Street has continued to grow in popularity with the ladies of Cromer and muchfurther afield. Owners Jane and Simon Clarkehave been delighted with the response to theirretail venture and have progressively added totheir business as they have gone along, but theone thing that has been a constant challengewas the size of the shop. It soon became apparent that we needed bigger premises, sowhen the Norfolk House Company decided torelocate, the couple were quick to snap up themuch larger shop at 34 Prince of Wales Roadand opened the new ‘Big Lily B’ on 18th May.The new shop means to that we can extend ourrange said Jane but first and foremost our mainfocus continues to be to provide boutique

fashion at purse friendly prices which has kind of become our ‘trademark’. The two mostfrequent comments we receive are “it’s lovelyto see something different” and “your pricesare brilliant”. We are keen to continue our business with those key drivers in mind, however, we can add to our range and look forward to including some younger fashion;more jeans, tees etc as well as some more exclusive day and evening wear and a range of great holiday wear to appeal particularly tothe swell of holiday makers over the summer.

The new premises also enables us to providemore space to browse and the big shop frontwindows make it a very light and bright environment which is an ideal retail setting. It is important for people to relax and enjoytheir shopping experience and we feel that atthe new shop we can totally deliver that. There

are three lovely, large fitting rooms completewith a Chesterfield sofa for the ‘the other half ‘to relax on and a toy box for the kiddies toamuse themselves while Mums are trying ontheir garments.

Staff are trained to advise on colour and stylingbut are also happy for people to pop in as theyoften do for a quick look around and a chat. Aswell as a great local customer base, we havepeople from far and wide. One lady looked usup on a visit from the States because she hadread about us in Vogue magazine!

At the request of our customers who live outside the area, we have set up a facebookpage where we display new lines and respondto customers’ requirements and generally keepthem up to date with what is happening.

And if you quite liked the cosiness of the littleshop in Church Street, it will remain openthroughout the summer so there is plenty oftime for customers to get used to the change.

THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY APPEAL AUCTION An Auction of Promises is to be held in The Haig Club, Mundesley on 24 August at 7pm for 7.30pm start, anyone is welcome.

The auctioneer is to be Pat Nearly our local comedian who should make it an entertaining evening. All proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

I am hoping donations for this event will be in the order of gifts and services. So please donate, for example any number of hours gardening or dog sitting/walking, unwanted new or good condition second hand items, a meal voucher, a weekendbreak or wine/spirits.

Donations please to Derek Sidaway on 01263 722930.

Spring has arrived……and at last we can begin concentrating more on our gardens; often a great place to start is our lawns.

Following last year’s wet weather moss is acommon sight. Iron Sulphate is most commonlyused to remove moss. We recommend a liquidtype applied with watering can or pressuresprayer, though lawn sand can also be used if spread evenly and correctly.

Moss will quickly turn black and the following week you can scarify your lawn. This can be done with a metal fan rake or powered scarifier and the aim is remove all dead moss and grass. If your lawn is compacted youcan use a fork to wiggle the roots around, creating aeration in the soil.

Following this you can remove any large weeds and apply seed to anypatches. A high-nitrate feed can also be applied in Spring, though greatcare must be takens as too much can cause unwanted weeds and mayeven burn the grass. Again, we recommend a diluted liquid unless youhave access to a spreader.

By following these simple steps and with the most basic tools you canhelp to ensure you will have a beautiful green lawn all summer long.

Roll up your sleeve forWorld Blood DayBlood donors will be recognised all over the world next month as internationally acknowledged World Blood Donor Day is set to take place on Friday 14 June.

Falling during National Blood Week (10 to 16June), World Blood Donor Day recognises the birthdayof Dr Karl Landsteiner who discovered the ABO blood group in 1901.

Blood donation and blood grouping are as important as ever. Hospitalsacross England and North Wales need around 7,000 units of blood everyday, and it is vital that NHS Blood and Transplant collects the rightamount of the different blood groups to provide the blood patients relyon to survive.

Individuals across the region have the opportunity to roll up theirsleeves and donate at a number of donor sessions in June.

Derek Carr, Lead Donor Relations Manager for NHS Blood and Transplant for the Anglia area, said “During this year’s National BloodWeek, we are hoping to encourage people in the local area who havenever given blood before to commit to give blood for the first-time andto remind those who have not given for some time, to come back anddonate. Please come and help us to provide the blood that hospitals andtheir patients need. A donor saves and improves lives every time theydonate – and you could too!”

Anyone aged between 17-65, weighing more than 50 kg (7st 12lbs) andin general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor. There is no upper age limit for donors who have donatedin the last two years.

For more information or to book an appointmentvisit www.blood.co.uk or contact 0300 123 23 23.

Dear MargaretI congratulate all those chosen by the people to serve as County Councillors in the recent elections. However those of whom that are also currently District Councillors, also knownas “Twin hatters”, I would earnestly ask them to examine theirconscious and consider standing down at the election next year. The “Twin hatter” practice encourages greed, corruption, conflictof interest, is antidemocratic and gives the taxpayer poor value formoney. With the best will in the world no one person can possiblydo both jobs successfully in the best interests of the electorate. Letus have an end to this unhealthy custom and go forward to a betterand more dynamic democracy.

Yours sincerelyJoseph P Floyd

Dear MargaretMy name is Chris, and my wife Chloe and I would like to ask for your readers’ help and support to raise both much needed funds and awareness for the fantastic work done by thestaff at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) incentral London. On the 13 July we are holding a Charity Disco with a Raffle &Auction, the night having a “Doctors and Nurses” theme, at TheLinks Hotel in West Runton. In April 2012 our son Kieran was born with a Ventricular SeptalDefect (VSD), also known as a ‘hole in the heart’. As the ‘hole’has not repaired itself and this in turn has slowed his growth thedecision was made at the end of last year to operate. From the moment we were told, the support we have received from the consultants right through to the booking team has been second to none. On 20 May this year he will travel to GOSH to havesurgery to repair his heart. Although this is a relatively straightforward procedure the stress, heartache and upheaval for our wholefamily has been incredible. This is where we thought of what wecan give back and how we can help GOSH.Tickets for the night are available from Dawn Fresh Greengrocers,The Chocolate Box and C&C Windows in Sheringham. Ticketscan also be purchased from ourselves (telephone 01328 316041 mo-bile 07765 085617 or email [email protected]. We hope tohave further places selling tickets in Cromer and the Runtons inthe near future.

Yours sincerely, Chris & Chloe White

Dear MargaretAs Labour candidates contesting the county council elections in North Norfolk, we would like to thank everyone who voted Labour in May.The Labour vote across North Norfolk increased by 137% since thelast county elections in 2009. This time we came very close to winningin North Walsham West and came second or third in four other divi-sions.The results show that North Norfolk will be a four horse race at thegeneral election in 2015 - between Labour and three 'Tory' parties. OnlyLabour can stand up for ordinary people in tough times. Labour will continue to campaign in our local communities on the issues that are important to local residents. Our branch of Cats Protection has now been in existence for nearly 13years and we are pleased at the difference we have made to the lives ofso many cats. Although most of these have been healthy, some havejoined us with infectious conditions such as ring worm, toxoplasmosis, enteritis, cat flu or other infectious conditions. These have all been contained within the individual family groups and no cross infectionshave ever occurred. This is primarily because when cats and kittens join us they are kept to their separate family groups, in individual pensand not mixed with other cats, thereby preventing any chance of crossinfection. Coming from a home or outside environment to a cat pen is initself stressful for the cats and on occasion there has been a need to putadditional barriers between the double pens to make life easier for thosewho do not appreciate being so close to other felines.

Another reason why we have not experienced cross infections is thecleaning regime that takes place on a daily basis. Bedding areas arewiped clean and floors swept and washed each day. Disinfecting the litter trays and replacing the litter, washing the food and water bowls andreplacing any soiled bedding also help contain any problems. On thoseoccasions when we have had cats that have had an infectious conditiontheir pens have been the last to be attended to. With some conditions ithas also been necessary to don protective clothing or in one instancewhen a fosterer was caring for cats and kittens with different infections, she changed her outer clothes before going from the first to the secondfamily and then again before going in to her own animals.

One benefit of taking these precautions is the complements we receivefrom visitors on the cleanliness and lack of catty smells in the pens (unless an unneutered tom has recently taken up residence) of which our fosterers are justifiably proud. It does take up quite a lot of their time but at the end of the day it does pay dividends.

If you are looking for acat or kitten please give acall on 01692 535858. Alternatively, for a description and photo-graphs of the cats you canvisitwww.cats.org.uk/north-walshambefore giving us a call onthe above number.

If, however, you are interestedin receiving help to neuter our cat/kitten please ring 07880 256948(tosee if you are eligible for a voucher).

Flystrike in RabbitsBetween April and October it is really important to check your rabbit twice a day for acondition called ‘MYIASIS’, more commonly known as ‘FLYSTRIKE’. In the warmerweather blow flies lay their eggs in the fur of rabbit’s hindquarters especially if therabbit is debilitated by some underlying health problem such as obesity, dental disease, diarrhoea, arthritis or a skin wound. Dirty hutches and runs are also very attractive toflies so always make sure you are cleaning soiled areas daily.Check your rabbits hindquarters morning and evening throughout summer as this conditionhappens FAST causing serious skin damage. The fly larvae hatch in the fur of the rabbitand burrow into the skin and flesh of the host resulting in shock and septicaemia, apotentially fatal combination. Products are available to help prevent this condition.Prevention is far better than cure where ‘flystrike’ is concerned as a cure cannot be guaranteed.Miramar Vets 7 point plan for a tip top bunny1. Check your rabbits hindquarters at least twice a day2. Make your rabbits hutch insect proof by using thin mesh over doors and windows3. Use preventative medication on your rabbit regularly through summer4. Keep your rabbit at the ideal weight5. Feed a balanced diet rich in hay and grass to promote digestive health and therefore avoid diarrhoea or weight gain6. Clean your bunny out regularly, this may mean twice daily removal of soiled bedding in the summer months7. If you find maggots on your rabbit contact the vet IMMEDIATELY, the faster we can act the better the chance of survivalNatalie, one of our qualified nurses, has a keen interest in rabbits and is on hand to offer advice on husbandry and preventativehealthcare, just give her a call on 01263 822293.

Two local authors and a local publishing company have worked together to produce FromPot to Plate... The Norfolk Crab and LobsterCookbook.

This beautifully illustrated 64 page book willfurther enhance the reputation of Cromer crabsand lobsters as the tastiest in the world.

Elliott Bloomfield is the head chef at Cromer’sRocket House Café and John Lee has crab

fishing in his blood, carrying on a tradition thathas been passed down in his family for at leasteight generations. It is not only the fishing skillsthat have been passed down to John, but theknowledge of how to “dress” a crab as well asrecipes for turning the crabs into tasty meals.Like John, Elliott was born and raised in NorthNorfolk and after studying for a degree in engineering he worked at a London based design consultancy, but his real passion wascooking. After a few years he quit his job andmoved to California to gain professional experience as a chef, ultimately returning to Nor-folk to join his sister and brother in law after theyopened the Rocket House Café in Cromer.Pot to Plate features a range of recipes from the simple, such as the crab sandwich and a crabdip, through favourites like crab crostini and pot-ted crab to the more sophisticated crab pappardelle and tagliatelle with spicy lobster and tomato ragu. Every recipe is well il-lustrated withphotographs showing both themethods and the final dish. The book is, however, more than just a cookery book as it gives an in-sight into the world of crab fishing through the

profile of John the fisherman as well as photo-graphs from John’s family album. A further twopages show “The elements of crab fishing”.

The publisher behind this project is Steve Appleyard who set up Red Flannel Publishingwhen he retired to East Runton and has writtenand published a number of Norfolk guide booksincluding Norfolk Beaches, Children’s Norfolk& Suffolk and recently Dogs Welcome in NorthNorfolk.

Queen’s SpeechNorfolk businesses will welcome ‘less in more’ approach says NorfolkChamber of CommerceCommenting on this month’s Queen’s Speech, Caroline Williams, ChiefExecutive of Norfolk Chamber of Commerce said “Norfolk businesseswill welcome the limited package of legislation announced in theQueen’s Speech. Ministers are right to focus on measures that can helpboost growth in Norfolk, and seem to have gotten the message thatwhen it comes to new legislation, less is more. Norfolk businesses will also applaud the new Employment Allowance, which is outlined in the National Insurance Contributions Bill. This al-lowance will help our smallest companies take on staff and will givemany businesses an important boost of confidence. In particular, thismeasure will create a strong incentive for a new or start-up business tohire its first employee.Although there was no new Bill for education, the Government’s focusis on improving the quality of education for young people. However,we would like to see more emphasis placed on preparing young peoplefor employment, through comprehensive careers education.”

Following in Grandmother’sfootstepsCharlotte Pollard, aged 9, from Cromer, has obviously inherited her acting talent from her grandmother, Mrs Jean Croxen.

Charlotte played the part of Brigettavon Trapp in the musical The Sound of Music, which was produced by the Cromer and Sheringham Operaticand Dramatic Society at the end ofMay.

In 1953, Jean Croxen was also a member of the Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society, and was in the production, The Gondaliers, produced by EricBalls. The Gondaliers was staged at the former Town Hall on the Prince ofWales Road, but The Sound of Musicwas at the Pavilion Theatre in Cromer.

Before the show, Jean came with Charlotte to see the rehearsals of the Sound of Music, and spoke about her memories of past productions and rehearsals. The photograph(left) shows Jean, on the right, with PamChinn, nee Watson, in their costumes for theGondaliers. Jean is no stranger to the worldof theatre, as she is the Treasurer of theCromer and North Norfolk Festival of Music,Dance and Speech, the hugely popular festival, which is in its 66th year, and takesplace every April and May.

Large Selection of Furniture& Accessories

All gardeners are busy at this time of the yeargetting their gardens, hanging baskets and containers ready for what we hope will be asunny summer. However as we walk aroundthe garden centres looking for geraniums, petunias and busy lizzies we should spare a thought for the wildlife all around us andchoose some plants that provide shelter andfood for birds, insects and other creatures.

If you have enough room consider planting a tree and pick one that is friendly to wildlife.Willows are trees rich in insect life, 250species of insect have been found harbouringamong their leaves and branches (do not growa large variety too near your house). In autumntheir seeds are a favourite food of siskins, redpolls and other finches. Other trees that attract insects and which are suitable for smallgardens include the rowan, field maple andhazel.

There are also flowering plants to choosewhich attract insects and birds and increasinglygarden centres are clearly labelling ‘beefriendly plants’. As well as adding colour toyour garden well chosen plants will support avast number of moths and butterflies as well asbees and other insects. These insects, and inlate summer the seeds of the plants, will beeaten by a variety of birds.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birdshas a list of recommended flowers to grow toattract insects and birds including –Foxglove,Valerian, Pinks, Thyme, Godetia, Cosmos,Cornflower, Candytuft, Michaelmas Daisy,Marjoram and Sunflower. As a general themore simple and open the flowers the morelikely they are to be good for wildlife.

The affinity between gardeners and wildlifecan be illustrated by the news that Nigel Colborn, the garden writer and one time presenter of Gardeners’ World has beenawarded the Victoria Medal of Honour. This is the highest award made by the Royal Horticultural Society and the number of holders of the medals is strictly limited. If you look carefully at Alan Titchmarsh when he presents the Chelsea Flower Show you willsee a tiny badge in his lapel which shows thathe is also a proud holder of this medal.

Nigel is a great bird lover as well as a greatgardener and he is also a frequent visitor toNorth Norfolk. He spent his school days atBeeston Regis and writes in a recent blog about his joy in seeing fulmars returning to the cliffs where he saw them as a schoolboy. He writes fondly of this area as follows ‘Themost wonderful coastal features, between Sheringham and Cromer are the cliffs. Theseare not proper cliffs, towering majestically and holding the sea at bay with indestructiblegranite or steadfast slate. No, no. These cliffs are tired, folded, collapsible and nsubstantial...made of glacial till, they have the consistency of fudge – not the bendy fudgethat is offered, for example at Sheringhamsweet shop Fudgetastic – but the crumbly sortyou make at home’

He also writes about the sand martins nestingin the cliffs and describes this area of cliffs, breakwaters, birds and waves as a perfect pic-ture, ‘so lovely so stark, so Norfolk’ and fin-ishes by stating ‘I’d love to live here again’.Nigel’s blogs can be read on‘silvertreedaze.blogspot.co.uk’.

From celebrity to history, the silver screen to tasting, Slow FoodAylsham's 'foodie' quiz on 11 May hadquestions on a wide range of subjects, but all with some connection to foodor drink. Quizmaster Roger Willis' brain had been working overtime to include posers on subjectslike weather forecaster Michael Fish, film starHalle Berry and former Dr Who Tom Bakerwhile wife Jill had devised a fiendish roundfeaturing ten ingredients which had to be identified by taste, smell or feel.

Over 80 quizzers sat down to what was generally acclaimed to have been a very enjoyable evening of fun, which also featured

a supper prepared and served by SlowFood Aylsham members and including a selection of pork pies from localbutcher G F White.

Cromer and Sheringham Probus ClubThe meeting which took place on 7 May followed the usual format of lunch at the Links Hotel in West Runton followed by a speaker, butnumbers were swelled as a result of the decision to invite lady guests onthis occasion. The event was so successful that we have established thisas a new tradition for our May meetings.

Stephen Scott-Fawcett gave an enthusiastic account of his passion forAntarctica, particularly the history of exploration there, and latterly theHimalayas. He has visited both North and South Poles, as well as thepeak of Mount Everest, so is well-qualified to give first-hand accounts

of these extraordinarily cold climates.

The AGM will be held after lunch on 4 June followed by a new programme of talks which commences in July with a presentation by Sheringham’s Town Crier, Tony Nelson, on the subject of The Sheringham Little Theatre.

If you are interested, contact Dave Vickery on 01263 824306 for moreinformation and to arrange to attend a lunch. There is no obligation to join immediately; come and give it a try, then decide if you wish to attend regularly.

CROMER MUSIC EVENINGSREVIEW OF CONCERT HELD ON SUNDAY, 28 APRIL AT TEMPLEWOOD, NORTHREPPSKAUSIKAN RAJESHKUMAR - PIANOThe first five notes played in the treble from Scarlatti’s D minor Sonata K213 introduced this young pianist’s musicality to the attentiveTemplewood audience. This work in one movement, contrary to Sonataform, a slow moving tempo played with deep sensitivity. The nextSonata K141 also in D minor being in complete contrast to the K213,demanding a flawless technique especially in the groups of presto repetitive notes of the same pitch. This being just two Sonatas from the555 keyboard Sonatas Scarlatti wrote! Then from the classical to the romantic came Schumann’s Carnaval op58, a composition of many miniatures (tiny scenes) composed on justfour notes, a masked ball being the idea, very fanciful but with a goodresult. After the interval, a masterful performance of Chopin’s Sonata in Bminor in four movements, Allegro, Scherzo, Largo and Presto. The last work on the programme was Impressoes seresteiras Festa nosertao by Villa-Lobos. This had a strong influence of melodies andrhythms of Brazilian folk tunes and was a fitting end to this concert, whereby the brilliance of this artist was truly awe inspiring to say theleast. No wonder he holds many prizes and accolades when playing in prestigious venues. It should be mentioned that he stood in at very short notice owing to illness of the billed pianist, Manon Ablett. The final concert of the current series at Templewood, Northrepps is on Sunday, 26 May at 3pm with Huw Wiggin (saxaphone) and Tim Abel (piano) - not to be missed, I assure you! Grand Plant Sale forCromer Bells ProjectCromer Church was packed for a Grand Plant Sale on Bank HolidayMonday. Local people and visitors flocked to buy annuals, perennials and shrubsat this fundraising event for the Cromer Bells Project. Nearly 2000plants were on sale, and were quickly snapped up by discerning garden-ers. Despite the vagaries of the worst Spring weather for ages, therewere hundreds of well grown bedding plants and a wide variety of inter-esting plants grown by church members, bell ringers and friends fromacross Norfolk. Unfortunately everyone was so busy no photos weretaken – if any reader has one the bellringers would be very grateful.Crafts also sold well, with splendid cup cakes proving very popular andsome bags with handles made from old bellropes attracting interest. Inaddition visitors hadthe chance to climbthe tower and seebells being rung –and even have a trythemselves! Excellenthome-made cakeswere available, with aplant crèche for pre-cious purchases to beleft safely while buy-ers took a break. The sale was organ-ised by Barbara andMike Hollis. The event raised a total of £1500, a very welcome boost to funds. Theproject aims to raise £70,000 to replace worn out fittings and strengthenthe whole frame to secure the future of Cromer's six bells, and also toadd two more to give the town a full octave. For more information aboutthe project and future fundraising events, contact Maureen Gardiner,01263 825779.

…congratulations this week go to Janet Morton who has been selected torepresent the County in the Johns Trophy team-this is the National Inter-county Competition-and also in the Walker Cup Team. The latter isthe County Top Two Fours Competition whichmeans that the selectors consider Janet to be inthe top 8 lady bowlers in the county. Well done

to her. The league seasons have nowstarted and the resultsare somewhat differing. In the Hansells Leagueat home against a strong

Cawston side Cromer lost 1-4. Cawston wererelegated from the County Premier League atthe end of last season and a tough game wasexpected. During the game at one stage itlooked as if Cromer could get a 4-1 or 3-2 win,but Cawston proved too strong right at the end.Away against County Arts the club could fairno better. Two rinks were well beaten by

bowlers who were far more consistent withtheir game. The third rink did very well andat least avoided the whitewash! The scorein the end 1-4. We hope for better things inthe next game, although the team is nothelped by the fact that 3 members are awayon the County Tour to Hythe in Kent. In theFederation County League the Crabs wereat home against Cawston and after a slowstart imposed themselves and won thegame 8-1. Next away at Aylsham the teamoverall were always in front and althoughsome of the Aylsham triples came a bitcloser the Crabs won on all rinks andclaimed a 9-0 victory. Kay Hazelwood andher Crows team had to travel to Trunch. Onan entertaining and challenging green theylost 2-7. At home the following week, against a strong Blakeney RBL team, the score was the same, a 2-7 loss. The afternoon NANSA team played their firstgame at home against Overstrand, but

despite some determined play they lost 2-6. We have to remember this was the first game in a stronger league the club having been promoted at the end of last season. I am sureRoger Purser and his players will not be toodisappointed.

There have been a number of people trying tolose weight this year. John the Birder has beenkeeping well to his diet and can now get intoclothes that had been set aside for the Charityshop because they had been too tight. Casualwear is now a smart suit because he is sopleased with his slender figure. Not to be outdone Magyar Les announced that he hadlost a Kilogram. Think about it, that is a largetub of margarine! Portuguese Chrissie onlywears glasses in bed. Interpret that how youwish Wow! During her stay abroad she alsotells us she enjoys playing crib at Ferragudoand I understand is often heard to exclaimWow! One of our new players this year does, I believe, carry her valuables with her wherever she goes. Watch Jackie on the green and youwill always see her attached to her handbag.

There will be support for the ladies of the clubon 6th June when they play Martham BC in thefirst round of this years Webb Trophy. In thiscompetition the club has one rink at home andone rink away. The aggregate score of the twogames decides the winner.

Our Ladies County President was over-whelmed with the support for her CoffeeMorning at the club. The intention being toraise as much money as possible towards thecost of coaches that the county use for away

games. She managed to raise just under£800:00 and with donations still coming in,from people unable to attend, may well topthat figure. The ladies of the club also decided to have a Fun Afternoon and raisesome money themselves to contribute to theCounty Ladies Benevolent Fund. Theyraised £63.00.
