REUSE, REDUCE and RECYCLE
The Secondary Classes have been learning about waste and recycling. Through this term, we have visited SITA – the waste and recycling plant, looked at materials that can be recycled and made recycled paper! We shredded some paper and blended them in some water. Then we put them through some moulds and once they dry, we will be able to use them again!
James B, Jedd, Tom, Charleen and Aidan will be graduating in a few weeks. They have started their transition to post school places, exploring the new services and meeting new friends. We wish them all the best!
Blue Class
16 NOVEMBER 2015
Welcome to week 7
It has been a very busy term and as we approach the downhill run to Christmas it promises to get even busier. As the weather gets increasingly hot I would like to remind parents to ensure their children have a hat and water bottle each day. Please apply sunscreen before school and we will reapply school sunscreen before play time. If you would prefer to send in personal sunscreen for your child please do so and let the class teacher know in the communication book.
Our feature class this week is Blue Class. This is our most senior class and five of them are graduating this year. They have all come a long way since they commenced at our school and we are very proud of their achievements. All of them are currently visiting and spending some time at possible or confirmed post school destinations but are still engaged in a range of activities at school to further enhance and develop their skills.
Last week students from Abbottsleigh Girls High School volunteered their time to assist in a Special Olympics morning with our Primary students. It was a fantastic session which students and staff from both school enjoyed immensely. We have had great support from both Roseville College and Abbottsleigh this year and hope to continue and extend the relationship in 2016.
We are about to commence the process to staff the additional class we have had established
for 2016 by merit selection. The establishment of this class will take our school to its maximum capacity although at this stage there are still a few vacancies for next year. In addition the tender for leasing of the pool has commenced and is currently being developed by Bridge Street for posting on the e-tender site.
We have some upcoming events for you to put in your diaries. Our year 12 Graduation and secondary awards dinner will be held on Wednesday, 2 December at Roseville Golf Club. The cost of this event has been kindly subsidised by our P&C for which we are very grateful. The Primary awards ceremony will be held at school on Monday 14 December and a note will be sent home next week with information regarding times and organisation. Our annual Christmas concert will be held this year on Thursday 10 December under our fabulous COLA from 12-1pm, it is always a wonderful feel good event and I hope all of our parents can make it.
Don’t forget to save the date of 16 March for the 2016 golf day and fundraising dinner at Roseville Golf Club. The next meeting of the Golf Day planning committee is Tuesday, 24 November commencing at 6:30pm at Roseville Golf Club. Everyone is welcome to attend.
On a very scary note there are only 39 days to Christmas.
Regards.
Christine

Special Olympics Carnival This year the primary classes have been participating in Special Olympics every Friday from 9-11am.
Last Friday, 13 November, Joanne and Shanaya from Special Olympics organised a wonderful carnival at our school. They organised for 11 girls from Abbotlseigh school with their teacher Belinda Robertson to come and run a sports carnival. They set up many activities – beanbag races, hurdles, basketball, soccerball skills, jumping in hoops. Every student at Cromehurst was able to have one on one support to participate in these activities.
Thank you so much to Abbotsleigh school and Special Olympics for a wonderful carnival! Our students had a wonderful time!
