Critical Thinking In the 21st Century

The art of analyzing and evaluating thinking with a view to
improving it.
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Definition
● Knowledge- Identification and recall of information (Who, What, When, Where, How?)
● Comprehension- Organization of facts and ideas (Re-tell in own words)
● Application- Use of facts, rules, and principles (an example, related to?)
● Analysis- Separating a whole into components (outline, diagram, map)
● Synthesis- Combining ideas to form a new whole ● Evaluation- Developing opinions, judgements, or
decisions.
Critical Thinking Skills

Importance
Good Information?In the age of Photoshop, video editing, blogging, podcasting, etc. information
must be evaluated properly, both incoming and outgoing.

Students will be asked to view two selected advertisements and critique the use of ambiguous terms and images to potentially mislead the audience. Students will write an open letter to the company on the class Facebook page asking questions to alleviate the ambiguity.
