GREENCORPS CHICAGO NFP IS CURRENTLY SEEKING: CREW SUPERVISORS Greencorps Chicago, a Not-For-Profit (NFP) organization, supports the City of Chicago’s green industry job training program to assist individuals with barriers to employment. Our mission is to support and guide residents from Chicagoland’s disinvested neighborhoods to create change in their lives and communities through training, service, and career opportunities in environmental fields. In partnership with the Emerald South Economic Development Collaborative, Greencorps Chicago is launching the Terra Firma Program. The program is a 4month, paid training program for individuals with barriers to employment. The Crew Supervisors will be responsible for assisting all training program participants with engagement in field projects while assisting staff in completing landscape projects. The ideal candidate is,energetic, motivational, responsible, has a positive attitude, and is a quick learner. Priority will be given to individuals living within the mid-South Side, which comprises Grand Boulevard, Kenwood, Hyde Park, Oakland, Douglas, Washington Park, Woodlawn, Greater Grand Crossing, South Shore, and South Chicago. Crew Supervisors Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operation of a crew Participate with crew on projects Willingness to learn horticulture, landscaping practices, and basic construction Ability to learn, teach, and apply safety practices Be responsible for any assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles Attend and contribute to weekly supervisor meetings Other duties as assigned Crew Supervisors Requirements: At least 21 years of age Ability to lift 50 pounds Valid driver's license with good driving record (insurable) Strong leadership and communication skills Previous work experience in landscape related job is preferred; Some work experience in team settings required Pass initial and random drug screenings (Not screening for marijuana use) Vaccination against COVID-19 is required for the health and safety our staff and community partners (Reasonable accommodation will be made for those with documented religious or health restrictions) This position requires a commitment of approximately 37-40 hours per week. Typical hours: M: 7am- 3pm, T-F: 6:15am-3:30pm. Compensation is dependent on experience, $17-$19/hour.
