2018 HBF Annual Report
CREW REPORT
We are so thrilled to present to you our 2018 Annual Report! This report outlines the work the HBF has completed over the last year – our 25th Anniversary Year! This report will showcase many individuals and companies that have partnered with us and made our efforts over the last 12 months possible. 2018 was a big year for the HBF. Here are just a few of the highlights.• In April, with the help of many members of our HBF community, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary with an amazing event in Denver. It was so good, we’re going to include that event annually – our Annual Celebration (join us on June 6, 2019!).• We also launched the new look, feel, and mission of the HBF. We move forward now with the mission to build independence, provide opportunities and elevate lives for individuals and families with disabilities in our community.• We streamlined our project process and increased our Project Captain recruitment efforts. As a result, we have a record breaking number of projects, work items, Project Captains and retail value of projects. (See pages 6 & 11 for details!)• The demand for our services continues to increase as the word about our program reaches more people. As such, we have restructured the staff to support this growth! See page 13 and meet our HBF crew. What remains the same throughout this growth and change, is the focus on our impact to HBF recipients and appreciation for our supporters. Throughout our process, om application to project completion, we focus on how we as a community can come together to help restore a piece of each recipient’s independence. Each person named on these pages and reading this report are a part of that process. There are those that are proud supporters of the organization; those that provide critical funds both as individuals and companies; and those who graciously donate time and supplies to complete the projects…you all play an important role in elevating the lives of HBF recipients and their families in our community. We have so much to be proud of om 2018, and our 25-year existence. Thank you for being a part of our HBF community. I hope you continue to be a part of our crew for the next 25 years!

2018 IN WORDSWhat Our Recipients Say:
Josh was born at 28 weeks and spent the first four months of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit in the hospital, going on and off life support. As a result of those early challenges, he is nonverbal and non-mobile (wheelchair bound). In spite of those challenges, he is a happy, smart and determined boy who loves to bike and spend time with his family, iends and neighbors.Like most 13-year-olds, Josh is growing. It became increasing difficult for his family to continue carrying him up the stairs, where his bedroom and bathroom were located. It was also challenging to enter and exit the home in his wheelchair, without an accessible solution to assist. That’s where the Home Builders Foundation (HBF) became a part of Josh’s story.
Aer receiving Josh’s request for assistance, the HBF visited the home to assess the project and began sourcing a Project Captain to complete the work. A Project captain stepped in first to build a ramp with a crew of volunteers during the HBF’s annual Blitz Build event last August.
In the meantime, the family moved Josh’s bedroom to the main level to limit the number of trips up and down the stairs. However, bathing was still upstairs and increasingly difficult. Then an additional Project Captain joined the HBF crew for Josh, and modified the first floor powder bath so Josh could bathe there, instead of traversing the stairs.
The total value of the work completed for Josh is more than $20,000, but thanks to the HBF and Project Captains, Josh and his family received these modifications at no cost. The modifications for Josh increase his safety, the safety for his caregivers, and allow all to focus more on his wellness journey.
