CHPS GV TERM 1 WEEK 6

NRL COACHING THIS WEEK

NRL coaching will be held again on Friday this week and will be targeting safe tackling skills. This is invaluable coaching leading up to the NRL Gala Day on the 20th March where 50 students have shown interest in playing.

SCRIPTURE AND ETHICS

Last week saw the return of both our scripture and ethics groups. We have been lucky enough to be able to offer both these programs over the past 2 years thanks to the dedication of many parent and community volunteers who give up their time each Friday to assist with the moral and spiritual development of our children.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY

Clean Up Australia Day for schools was held Friday. Students were encouraged Take 3 in our playground and keep the grounds clear of litter at all times. On assembly we spoke of the effort our council is going to make managing our waste easier, with coloured bins and the new 10 cents per bottle scheme.

P&C AGM THIS THURSDAY MARCH 8T H @ 5.30PM

This Thursday night 8th March is the Annual General Meeting for the CHPS P&C. All are welcome at any time to join this group of highly organized and dedicated parents. Our P&C have been responsible for many wonderful events at our school such as last year’s Spring Fair, our Harmony Day Cultural Food Festival, organising the canteen for our school and our community sporting and cultural events. It is uplifting to be associated with this group of people and I hope to see many new faces this year at our AGM.

MUSICA VIVA – DOCTOR STOVEPIPE -WEDNESDAY 21ST MARCH

Musica Viva is bringing another fantastic

performance to CHPS!!! Touring with Music Viva In Schools for the first time, Doctor Stovepipe travel back in time to when old songs were brand new. They will collect songs from the past and transport them right here, to the present. With your help, they’ll dust them off, polish them up and make them brand new again by adding your changes and stories. And hopefully, by keeping the old songs new and alive, they’ll send them far off into the future to live on, and for other people to enjoy. Please return your note and payment to the school office as soon as possible.

DELICATE AND CANBERRA/SNOW EXCURSION – KEEP THESE ON YOUR RADAR

Last week Years 5 & 6 students took home notes informing them of both the upcoming Delicate Camp and the Term 3 Canberra / Snowfields Excursions. Delicate camp is a rite of passage for all Year 5 & 6 students who spend 3 days living and learning amongst the Goolawah National Park. This is scheduled to take place in Week 9 of this term. Whilst our Canberra Excursion is not until mid-Term 3 it has a much larger cost associated with it and for this reason we have begun taking part payments towards this to allow parents to pay this off over the 26 weeks until we leave. The children were understandably excited about these opportunities.

PAINTERS AND BUILDERS IN SCHOOL GROUNDS

As the painters continue their work around the school there will be minor disruptions to our usual movements. Please respect areas that have bunting around them and avoid touching freshly painted surfaces. The 5/6 Rooms will be closed again on Monday and possibly Tuesday with those classes working in the library. Other works are ongoing around our school with hand railings being replaced in the 3 / 4 rooms. We ask everyone on site to be careful and stay out of work areas. As there are many trucks and utes on site please keep an eye out on our driveway.

SKOOLBAG APP

Our school has our own Skoolbag iPhone and Android App to help us communicate more effectively with our Parent/Student community. We ask that all parents and community members install our Skoolbag App. To install it, just search for our school name ‘Crescent Head Public School’ in either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

You will be able to forward it to proud family members when there are articles about your child. If you wish to receive the Grapevine via email please fill in the section below.
