OUR GARDEN IS ABUNDANT
CHPS students have been nurturing our vegie garden under the watchful eye of Mrs Rixon and Mrs Lamb with great results. Who doesn’t love corn on the cob?
Our updated CHPS Healthy Canteen Price list has been included with the Grapevine. A copy will also be available on the CHPS website or at the front office.
CHPS GV TERM 4 WEEK 2
SURFING BEGINS IN LARGE SWELL
Surfing began last Friday with Mr Lobb, Mr Edwards, Mr Koivu and Dundee finding a small break in what can only be described as messy conditions. The teachers made the most of this large onshore swell to teach our students about identifying dangers in large surf before taking to the water. With many of our students taking part for the first time it seemed like there would be little surfing on the 1ft waves that were breaking over the sand bank adjacent to Killuke Creek. However the students soon found their groove with all students getting to their feet with increasing ease and making the most of these small waves. Well done to all who took part, it looked like great fun for all.
CANTEEN UNABLE TO OPEN TUESDAYS
Sadly, due to low volunteer numbers, the Canteen is unable to open on Tuesdays as previously advertised. The Canteen will open on Thursdays and Fridays as usual. If you would like to volunteer, please contact our Canteen Manager, Aline Monteiro on 0434 029 222.

'Water Water Everywhere' features the Water Concerto by Tan Dun, arranged by Thea Rossen and Leigh Harrold, and performed by Thea Rossen (water percussion), Leigh Harrold (piano) and Luke Carbon (clarinet). All students are encouraged to take part in this as there will be lessons and activities in class following the performance. The cost for this performance is $7 and can be paid either at the office or via our website. A copy of the Musica Viva note is also in the notes tab of the CHPS website.

SCHOOL STUDENT TRANSPORT SCHEME
You can now apply online for free school travel in rural and regional NSW instead of using paper forms. This means you only need to complete one form, even for journeys using more than one bus company. It’s also easier for schools and bus companies, as Transport for NSW now handles the applications. To be eligible for free school travel, students may need to live a minimum distance from their school: Years K-2 (Infants) There's no minimum distance. Years 3-6 (Primary) More than 1.6km straight line distance or at least 2.3km walking. Years 7-12 (Secondary) More than 2.0km straight line distance or at least 2.9km walking. You can apply for free school travel for next year from the start of Term 4 this year. Step 1 Once you have enrolled your child at the new school, apply online at transportnsw.info/school-students giving your home address and telling us which bus company the student needs to travel with between home and school. Step 2 The school then confirms to us that your details are correct. Step 3 We will then work on your application. You will get an email confirming if the student is approved for free travel. If so, we will tell your local bus company who may send a school travel pass (if needed) to your school or, in some cases, the bus company will contact you directly about travel arrangements. A parent or guardian must apply for students aged 15 years and under. Students who are 16 years and over must apply for themselves. Want to know more? For more information call 131 500 or visit transportnsw.info/school-students
