Beauty and fashion are two things that have always sparked my interest, even at an early age. As a young girl, skinny, tiny, petite or small where never words that were used to describe my size, stature, or section of the store in which I purchased my clothing. is never detoured me from always falling in love with the "ner things in life. While the fashion industry has come a long way in the styles and trends they offer to curvy women
ere is a de"nite area for improvement. I live for helping others especially, by helping women enhance their beauty and style. As a curvy women, I’m on a mission to meet other likeminded women who love to live happy healthy lifestyles "lled with beauty, style and grace. I don’t want to be made to apologize or to feel embarrassed about my curves. We are BEAUTIFUL… simply stated the CRÈME DE LA CURVES.

In the heart of downtown Phoenix is the cutest little boutique named “Poor Little Rich Girl” that owner Catharine Fournier- Raslavsky describes as having a “beauty parlor” vibe. This place holds particular value to the curvy girls as they offer sizes up to a 28. PLRG houses everything from clothes and shoes to accessories and gifts. And for what some see as an added bonus, this is a resale shop, meaning that whether your looking for a great deal on something new or slightly used or are cleaning out your closet for the new season trends and like to make a little extra cash. This can definitely be seen as a one stop shop.

I would like to nominate my daughter, Savannah. She is one of the most loyal, loving, caring, compassionate girls I know. I am not just saying this because she is my daughter. She is constantly assisVng her friends with whatever it is they need. She is the "go-‐to" girl with her friends when they just need a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or just someone to hang out with. She has friends who are not on the right track yet she tries and tries to keep them straight. She will hang out with them knowing they are experiencing with drugs and alcohol (she stays sober and responsible) just to be sure they are safe and not doing anything illegal or stupid.
Winning submission
WINNER!
Savannah Mullen
The following is is the le.er submi.ed by Savannah Mullen’s mother, Melissa for our first makeover contest
She recently took a friend to a friends house and the friends started to party a liZle hard (Savannah didn't) and when things got out of hand she rallied everyone up and put them in the SUV to get the home and out of danger. She believes her influence will open their eyes and realize they don’t have to be drunk or high to have fun. She talks with them without judgment, therefore they listen. Another example of her compassionate heart is this. Yesterday (7/27/2011) we were at Circle K on 7th Ave and Bethany Home Rd gedng sodas... she noVced a very frail, elderly looking woman trying to get out of her car as she was in need of gas. Savannah went to the lady and asked her if she could assist her with her gas pumping. Savannah has a very honest, trusVng face and just glows with love and trust.
The lady accepted and Savannah assisted her from swiping her debit card for gas all the way to pumping gas and went as far as cleaned the ladies windows. Another example for her dedicaVon and love for her family and friends... she gave up her spring break (we all know how important that week is for teenagers) to spend it in Vegas to help her Aunt with the kids. My sister (her Aunt) recently became a single mom and was commuVng the children back and forth to California for visitaVon with their dad. The dad gets the 2 children for 1 week and then they switch. Savannah gave up her week to help my sister adjust to becoming a single parent and to help drive back and forth from Vegas to California. She babysat while my sister worked and kept her cousins entertained. There was no compensaVon for her Vme or assistance, it was family. Savannah has been an only child and most of Savannahs life I was a single parent, so she had a lot of insight of how to help my sister. These are just a couple examples of her character. Savannah has beat some rather difficult obstacles in her young life. She is a survivor of sexual abuse, she has gone through the trauma of losing 4 friends to suicide in the last couple years... and she sVll holds her head high. She strives to be a child advocacy lawyer as she wants to help kids through what she dealt with as a pre-‐teen to teenager. She loves children and babysits all of her friends kids.

I have taught her morals, ethics, compassion, unconditional love, to be trusting, and look for the positive in everything. Savannah starts as a freshman at Grand Canyon University on August 29th and it would be a dream come true for her to start with a new look, a new view on herself and life. She has become more curvy in the last couple years and it has really taken a toll on her esteem and they way she sees herself. I TRULY BELIEVE this would turn her around! I would be forever grateful as it is something I could never afford to do for her, as much as I would love to. Savannah never takes time for herself. She is a beautiful gal but does nothing for herself. She wears very little makeup if any and always just pulls her hair into a ponytail. A friend of hers attempted to bleach her hair and now its an orangey color that has grown out and has 2" dark roots showing. She is a size 18 or so, wears bras WAY to small for her as she is a voluptuously breasted woman (42DDD or bigger) and we cant afford the size bra she truly needs. Please give my daughter the one thing that I haven't been able to... a makeover from the outside which will transform the inside. She cares more for others than herself.
She is truly a remarkable lady and has beat the curve with peer-pressure and society and the lack of human compassion. She glows with is. I have recently been diagnosed with a very rare infectious disease (not from human to human) and upon the news she was enrolled at NAU in Flagstaff. It was her deepest desire to attend NAU but with my medical condition, she has chosen to go to a local University so she can be at home and help me... therefore withdrawing from NAU and enrolling at Grand Canyon University. We are a close knit, her and I, and have always had a very open trusting relationship. She is my hero!
Savannah’s day of pampering began at the salon of CurVs Blue an InternaVonal Master Stylist. Blue was able to transform Savannah from a brassy blonde to a gorgeous deep bruneZe and then finalized her look with with long layers to frame her face. From the salon, Savannah met Eliza Davis, founder of Crème de la Curves at Lane Bryant (Desert Ridge-‐ Phoenix, AZ) where she was able to get a complete bra fidng as well as learned out to select opVons that would flaZer her curvy figure.
Ajer a day for shopping Savannah and Davis headed to Kashmir Rock Spa to conVnue her day of pampering were she was met by Sylvia Justus of Sterling Chic Silver Jewelry (Silpada) where she was given two necklaces, a set of earrings and a fun unique sterling silver ring. Following her lesson on accessorizing and how to care for her new jewelry she was given Kashmir’s signature “Rockstar” gel nails and toes.
Savannah’s finale was showcased at the Crème de la Curves “Curvy Girl’s Night For Fashion” where she is pictured walking the runway.
As fall quickly approaches us in the desert, locals can tell you that there isn’t anything quite like it’s seasons. Many love to visit, enjoying the steamy days and cool enchanting nights, and walk away finding that there is much more luxury and elegance in this dry and desolate land.
