Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Creekside, The new school year is fast approaching. We expect to have a full house (2,025 students). While CHS continues to grow, it is our desire to make a connection with each student every day. As we look towards the opening of school I am enthused by our Link Crew initiative. Link Crew provides an upperclassman mentor for entering freshmen students. These mentors will guide, collaborate and interact with freshmen throughout their first year of high school. The 2016-2017 school year holds such promise. I’m excited to get started. Congratulations to Mrs. Linda Gillespie, Mrs. Janet Robles and Ms. Colleen Murphy for being named Florida Foreign Language Association’s Most Valuable Teachers for secondary schools. All three teachers were recently recognized at July’ School Board meeting. I am especially grateful for the “extra” they provide Creekside students. Truly, it is uplifting to see the fruits of their labor. Our student achievement results recently arrived. I am very proud of the efforts of students, teachers and parents to continually focus on learning. Our results show that CHS students are thriving academically. Our over-all aim is to develop a well-rounded student. I trust your child plans to “plug-in.” Did you know we have over 67 clubs and co-curricular organizations? These co-curriculas are designed for your student to get involved. Please visit the CHS Website (http://www-chs.stjohns.k12.fl.us/) to gain current and upcoming information regarding the opening of school. Listed below are just a few primers to get started:
Sunday, July 31st ..................Student Schedules are posted to Home Access Center (HAC) Monday, August 1st ..............Freshmen Day with Link Crew (8:30-1:00) New Parent Orientation (8:30-9:30) Tuesday, August 9th ..............Open House (9:00-12:00) New Parent Orientation Make-up (9:00-10:00) Wednesday, August 10th .......First Day of School
Counselors will be available August 1, 2016 from 1:30-3:30 to take schedule change requests in person. Students have the first five (5) days of school to request a schedule change. The 2016-2017 school year arrives with great promise. I look forward to a very engaging year! In closing, I leave you with a quote from Mother Teresa: “We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.”
Let’s be a blessing to others,Sincerely,
RandyJ. Randy JohnsonPrincipal

PTSO News Welcome back! The Creekside PTSO would like to welcome you and your student back for another exciting school year! Whether it’s your student’s first semester here at Creekside or you’re a veteran Knight, the Creekside PTSO is here to help. The Creekside PTSO is an organization comprised of parents, teachers and students in order to better serve the educational goals of our school. Over the past several months, our leadership committee has been working diligently to plan for the upcoming school year. Our goal this year is to provide support to the students and teachers through an array of speakers, capital initiatives, student and teacher events, and assistance with additional educational opportunities. It is going to be an exciting school year and we want and need your help. Parents that are actively engaged in their children’s education is a very effective means to help their student succeed in school. Being part of the PTSO, keeps you informed and offers you opportunities to volunteer to help meet the goals of the school. There are three steps in becoming involved: Membership, Communication and Participation. The first step is Membership. Our membership fees and employer matching gift program constitutes 95% of the funds the PTSO uses to support Creekside High School. Last year the PTSO contributed $24,600 to school activities and initiatives. Your membership fee helps us continue to grow this commitment! The second step is Communication. The PTSO meets the first Friday of every month at 9:30AM, in the professional library and all members are welcome to attend. Come join us for the first PTSO meeting, as we kick off the new school year on August 12th. The third step is Participation. There will be many opportunities for the PTSO to actively participate in events we are involved in or directly sponsor. You help is needed to make these activities a success. Join in our enthusiasm for this upcoming school and join the PTSO organization to help Creekside High School continue to offer educational excellence for our students. Let’s make this the best year yet!
