What is Innovation?

It’s about looking at your customers & seeing things from their viewpoint. Not your own.Innovation is a business affair. It is about creating value by challenging the culture and”how we do things around here”.

CREATIVITYCreativity is a generic term. It is abstract and has no reference to quality in regards to a specific situation or task

Creativity is not a goal in itself, it´s the character of an activity; it implies nothing more than an exploration with the intention of creating something new with some kind of value.

Telling someone that we are going to have a creative process implies nothing more than: ”We are going to spend some time coming up with something new” But, it should be:

”We are going to come up with some shit that really works.”

Creativity is not a talent. Creativity is a drive

Being UNIQUE has no value in itself, unless it gives the customer something of value.

two problems:since all companys benchmark each other it is all about the hammer and if you think your only tool is a hammer, every problem starts looking like a nail

”Please clap, and create the sound of thunder...

”...the interesting thing here though is that I asked a group of kids exactly the same question. Not one of you got of your seat to think, right, how can I clap - maybe I can use other parts of my body to create extra sounds. Not a single one of you thought about clapping in a slightly different way other than sitting in your seats there and using two hands”.

Hello

Why didn't I think of that?

I thought of that years ago, we just didn't have the money/ the timing wasn't right!

We hear this all too often.

For innovation to happen, for ideas to come to life, there needs to be a dramatic shift

in our mind set.

So, why is it so hard??

Page 11: Creativity & innovation

If you do not manage culture - the culture manages you...Don't let your environment define your strategy... Create a strategy that defines your environment!

It´s hard to be different! Our mental maps narrows us!!

We needa betterrecording device.Today we are getting better and better at masuring what´s easy to measure - not what´s important.

What you measure gets done, so what do you measure?

We need to understand what really creates value and then measure it evidence based.
