1. There is an increase in the number of LET examinees over the last

7 years, from 97,560 in 1997 to 141,732 in 2002.

2. There were more elementary level teacher examinees than

high school teacher examinees.

3. There were more high school teachers passing the LET than elementary

school teachers.

4. The elementary teacher examinees tend to generally get higher meanscores in the general education section of the board exam than in the

professional education section while the mean scores of the high

school teacher examinees tend to be generally the same.

5. The elementary teacher examinees generally have lower means than

the high school teacher examinees.
