When I was a child, my grandmother used to tell me about her brother who had died in battle during World War I. Recently, out of idle curiosity, I Googled his name and ... up came his full personal file, stored on Europeana. When I saw on screen the same photo that has been hanging in my lounge for decades, I was shocked as if I had seen a phantom! But it was moving to find out details about his life and death, and where his personal file is being kept (a museum archive, which I intend to visit soon). Thank you for helping younger generations to retrieve and cherish such memories. Europeana is a wonderful project.RegardsFiorella Perotto
