1. Creative Processes By Avneet Gill 2. Mood-board For my A2 media studies coursework I knew that I needed a way of expressing my ideas about my short film. I needed a method of visualising all of my ideas about the genre, amount of characters, location for filming and what films I was going to use for inspiration. Therefore I came to a conclusion that I would make a mood-board. This was a helpful way of making my own thoughts about my products clear to me and allowing me to focus on and decide what my next steps needed to be in order to make a successful short film. I have previously used this concept for my AS media coursework too. Nonetheless this was a great way of helping me create my music magazine too. I decided to focus on the content of my magazine, and since my genre of music was Hip-Hop/R&B I thought about the artists within this style of music that I would feature. This gave me a much clearer insight to the magazine that I was striving for. I will insert the mood-board that I had created for my AS media music magazine on the next slide 3. Using Blogger For both my AS and A2 media coursework, it was essential to have an online blog portfolio to use in relation to displaying and presenting coursework. Initially this was used at AS for the production of my music magazine. I blogged everything that I did for this class, including lessons and the entire process of making my magazine. This included photos, equipment, analysis of other magazines, my drafts for each task, the editing tools that I used including any online or mobile applications and software (this included reviews for each editing tool, in which I blogged about the efficiency and reliability of each software) in addition to this I would write about the content of my magazine, including musicians within my chosen genre. 4. Editing Schedule For my A2 media coursework, I was making a short film. With a high number of video footage and organisation to do, I decided to create a schedule to help keep everything in place and to prevent confusion I create my schedule in the format of a timetable using grids and boxes on the Microsoft word software on my PC. My schedule included my tasks and the dates that they would need to be completed by. Some of these were complicated tasks, while others were relatively simple. Some of the tasks were certain scenes that would need to be filmed, when footage would need to be uploaded and edited and when photos would need to be taken for the task which required me to make a poster where I would be advertising my film. I feel as though creating a schedule was definitely worth the time that it took as it helped me to keep my priorities straight and complete tasks when needed to be done. 5. My film Idea When I first heard we were making short films I had initially decided to do a film based on a wedding not long after preparing for this I realised that this was not going to work because it was close to impossible to re-create an entire wedding. Despite the fact that I had been to one over the summer, I realised afterwards that I did not have enough footage for my film. Although this saddened me I realised that I wanted to stay within the ongoing theme of culture. I then came to the conclusion that I would base by film around comparing two cultures, and the sameness of all humans regardless of social or cultural background. 6. Collaboration with others I think that expressing and sharing ideas is one of the most important elements of creating a successful product. When discussing ideas, not only did I have the opportunity to create new ideas, but also the chance to develop my own creativity by combining my own and other members of my classs advice. This way, I could tell if people would like my film or if I should scrap the entire thing. In this respect, sharing ideas is a type of test of audience reaction. As my TA was suited to those of my classmates this was the perfect opportunity to really understand if my idea was something worth testing out. In the end I found that people warmed to the idea of a cultural film and since the purpose of my film was to please an audience, I decided to continue. 7. Thanks for watching!
