Bibb City Public Library
Location: Colombus, GA
Process: Hand-Drafting, Photoshop, EcoTect, SketchUp
The purpose of this design was to provide the people of the Bibb City/Colombus, GA region with a public library/multimedia center. The building is outfitted with brick and wood to represent the city’s history as it ages over time. The glass provides a stark contrast, representing the ‘new’ up and coming city within the old. The sustainable techniques practiced in this design will set the standard for the up and coming design of Bibb City.

Columbus City Hostel, Kayak Store, and Bakery
Location: Colombus, GA
Process: Hand-Drafting, Photoshop, Revit, SketchUp, EcoTect, AutoCad
Columbus Georgia is changing, having transformed from its historically industrial presence to become a young artistic community with a sense of adventure. It is perhaps one of the fastest growing tourist destinations along the Chattahoochee River due to the new river walk and the renovation of the waterway. The assigned site is a parking lot positioned between Broadway, the main road through the downtown, and the main kayak access point off of the river walk. This location and attributes of my design improves the surrounding community socially,
environmentally, and economically.

Kayak Store Facade
Locatio: Columbus, GA
Process: Hand-DraftingPhotoshop
In one of my studio’s first studies of Colombus, GA., each person was assigned a facade of a building along Broadway, the main street that runs through downtown Colombus. After drafting our assigned facades and piecing them together (shown bottom right), we were instructed to design a kayak shop to fill the void in the street elevation. The courtyard was to remain, only 500 sq. ft. of ground was allowed to be touched, and elevator circulation could be used in the neighboring buildings.

Second Floor Plan
The staircase landing on the sidewalk draws people to the second floor entrance. Raising the building off the ground allowed for passage through to the courtyard as well as outdoor dining space for the neighboring restaurant. The large windows and use of brick, shadows the city’s mill town history helps blend the facade into the already-existing street.

Long House
Location: Bibb City, Colombus, GA
Programs: Hand-Drafting,e Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrylic on Newsprint, AutoCad
This house was designed for an elderly couple that owns the kayak store designed for the previous project. It is located along the riverwalk in Bibb City. The house is positioned on the site in a way to maximize views of the Chattahoochie River as well as retain privacy for the couple. The elongated floorplan is programatically divided to give way to strategically placed frames that highlight the best views. Additionally, the walls that create these sections contain apertures, opening the floorplan audibly while spatially creating different rooms. Wood slats were used to give the pilars stature and texture, making the house appear taller. Large glass windows reduce the barrier between inside and outside, allowing the tenant to absorb their views and surroundings within the comfort of their home.
