Creative Play is a family run business with sixfamily members currently employed by thecompany. We specialise in the design,manufacture and installation of timber playequipment which is the result of twenty yearsexperience.

We offer you thecomplete packagefrom design toinstallation using ourin-house resources.We only use our owntrained employees –no subcontractors- toensure completiondates are met and ourhigh quality standardsare maintained. Thiscoupled with quality control at every stageguarantees that all contracts are completed toyour expectations.

Having fun, keeping fitCreative Play is committed to developingchildrens play equipment whichpromotes exercise, healthy living andimproved well being for our youngsters. Recent years have seen growingconcern over issues such as childhood

obesity, lack of exercise, and “sedentarylifestyles” caused by video games andtelevision, and there’s now a growing body ofopinion which agrees that exercise is a vital partof the solution to these problems.

Current advice says children should be doing atleast one hour’s moderate exercise every day,and the government, for its part, has set a targetthat all children should be doing four hours of

sport each weekby 2010. It’s alsoan issue whichschools are takingincreasinglyseriously.

The benefits oftaking moreexercise are clear:it can helpchildrenconcentrate better,

reduce their chances of being obese, andcontributes to better overall health. It’s alsogood for their well-being; releasing vitalendorphins, hormones which are known tomake us happier! There’s also evidence it canhave a positive impact on behaviour.

At Creative Play our goalis to design and makechildren’s play equipmentwhich allows children to

play and have fun, while at the same timekeeping fit and developing a range of spatialskills such as balance, co-ordination, agility andstrength. Our equipment, which is designed tomeet Ofsted’s requirements for physicaldevelopment, is also carefully designed toencourage imaginative play and socialinteraction.

The Creative Play range includes a variety ofproducts each of which caters for differentneeds and environments. One of our playadvisors will be happy to visit your site to offerfree, no obligation advice on what equipment isbest suited to your requirements.

For example, if an all round test of physicalfitness, strength and agility is a priority, look nofurther than the Challenger range (See pages 15-20). Individual ‘trails’ can be made up from 27items including scramble nets, balance beamsand parallel bars; which combined offer a greatway to develop skills including co-ordination,balance, and concentration. For younger children the bright and colourfulitems in the Lilliput and Daisy ranges (Seepages 1-2 & 3-4) encourage keeping fit, roleplaying and imaginative play, whiledeveloping key skills. While the VoyagerRange (See pages 7-10) is designed to let theirimagination run free with fire engines, pirateships, tractors, and trains - perfect for keeping

them moving! Meanwhile Zenith towersystems (See pages 21-27) aimed at childrenaged 7 to 12 offer a tower/fortenvironment with 4.5m tall towerscombined with clatterbridges, slides,net traverses and tunnels, rope bridgesand stairways and firefighters’ poles.

There’s also plenty of opportunities to relaxand socialise with our ‘swings, springs andthings’ items (see page 31-32) and our‘shades, shelters and seating’ range (see page33-36). The latter also offers opportunities tobring the classroom outside, enriching andenhancing the learning experience.

All equipment complies with Creative Play’shighest standards of safety, and meets therequirements of the BS EN 1176 safetystandard for outdoor playground equipment.Installation work is carried out by ourdedicated in-house team made up of stafftrained to standards set by the Register of PlayInspectors International (RPII).


Lilliput Playtowns Age 2-5 years

This range is designed with 2 – 5year olds in mind. The aim – tokeep them busy and active whilst using their imaginations.

The units offer a combination of towers, slides, steps, ladders,tunnels, rope bridges and ramps. Guaranteed to keep little onesinterested. Choose brightly coloured or rustic designs and fromone to six tower modules to fit your requirements. You can evenadd your own finishing touches such as smiling sunshine faces toroofs, or car, boat and bicycle designs to side panels.

Creative Play also has the Daisy Range (pages 3-4, Sand Play(page 11), Playhouses (5.6) and The Voyager Range (pages 7-10)for this age group.

SURFACING REQUIREMENTSImpact absorbing surfaces shouldbe used where the free height offall of equipment is over 600mm.Top soil or turf may be used up to1m providing thesurface is wellmaintained.

Whilst impactabsorbing surface isnot required wherethe free height offall of equipment is600mm or less, it isrecommended thata surface withimpact attenuatingqualities be used.

AREAREQUIREMENTSThe area requirements as set outin EN 1176 are shown by eachitem of equipment. There are noarea requirements for 600mm orless, but we suggest 1mminimum.

TYPES OF IMPACT ABSORBINGSURFACESYNTHETIC SURFACEPlaysafe - Outdoor sports surfacetested for compliance with therequirements of EN1177 can beused to combat soil erosion orwith the addition of impactabsorbing material as a safersurfacing. It is not as heavy asrubber and can often be installedonto grass or top soil without theneed for an expensive base. Thesurface is softer than rubber andfalls are less likely to result infriction burns.

Includes rubber wet pour or tiles,artificial grass, outdoor carpet ormats. The specification and costis dependent on the free height offall of the equipment and the

ground preparation required.

Rubber Wet Pour and Tiles -Installed on a prepared hardcoreor concrete base. It is sometimespossible to use existing concreteor tarmac as a base. Rubber wetpour is prepared and mixed onsite.

COST OF SURFACINGThe cost of surfacing dependsupon the free height of fall of theequipment and on the amount ofsite preparation required, whichcan vary enormously from site tosite. As a guide Playsafe for freeheights of fall to 1m from £39m2

installed on a hard surface to£50m2 installed on grass or topsoil compared with wet pour on aprepared base from £39m2 to£100m2 plus including basepreparation.

We recommend Playsafe surfacing as theperfect compliment to Creative Playequipment.

Available in blue, green, yellow, red andterracotta, this versatile surface can beused on grass, topsoil or existing hardsurfaces such as tarmac or concrete.

Tested to British Standard BS EN 1177, itprovides a hard-wearing, all-weathersurface and can brighten up any playarea. You can include an inlaid designsuch as hopscotch, alphabet snake orstars to increase the play value of yoursurface and cheer up your area.

Our play advisors will be happy to adviseyou on the range of designs which canbe incorporated into Playsafe Surfacing.

We can also supply fencing, planters,and signs.

Impact absorbing surfaces should beused where the free height of fall ofequipment is over 600mm. Top soil orturf may be used up to 1m providing thesurface is well maintained.

Whilst impact absorbing surface is notrequired where the free height of fall ofequipment is 600mm or less, it isrecommended that a surface with impactattenuating qualities be used.

TIMBER

• We use selected first grade timber from sustainable commercial plantations with at least 70%

sourced from forests independently certified under the Forest Stewardship Council.

• Timbers are cut free of the heart of the log and square sawn with chamfered edges.

• All timbers are pressure impregnated with a chrome and arsenic free preservative which

protects against decay and insect attack for twenty years.

• Horizontal timbers are secured on top of uprights by way of custom made brackets to maximise

the load bearing capacity.

• All end grains are capped to prevent moisture entering exposed uprights as well as covering

rough end grain.
