Creating beautiful, artistic edits with your iPhone is something anyone can do

with just a few easy to follow methods.

Monday, January 28, 13

Start with a ‘Master Shot’

Monday, January 28, 13

What is a Master shot?

✓A master shot is the photo you take

that will be cropped, enhanced, or

manipulated at a later time

✓ Editing (post-processing) a ‘Master Shot’

allows you to try different creative ideas

without replacing the original

✓ Your iPhone is a portable computer that

can be filled with numerous creative

photo apps giving you unlimited creative

freedom. Hint: explore the App Store!

✓ Is there a color problem or issue?

✓ Is there something that needs to

be emphasized or minimized?

Minimizing and Emphasizing. Dodging, Burning, Center Focus, Vignette.

✓Dodging decreases exposure, lightening the

photo where applied.

✓ Burning increases exposure, darkening the

photo where applied.

✓Contrast can be corrected in specific areas of

the image rather than the overall photo.

✓Center focus and/or vignetting increases focus

to the center of the image by decreasing focus

along the edges or corners of photo.

✓ Let’s see an example.

Monday, January 28, 13

Reducing Noise in your Master Shot.

✓When taking photos in areas with reduced

lighting, and/or at night, a high ISO speed is

typically required for greater light detail.

✓At a higher ISO speed, the iPhone is more

sensitive to light, and as a result noise too.

✓ Sometimes, noise can add to a photo, like

analog film grain, giving it an old-fashioned look.

✓ But, noise can also detract from the overall,

professional feel of your photo, so removing it

is often desirable.

✓Adobe PS Express is a FREE app that can

reduce noise very effectively.

Monday, January 28, 13

Open Your Shot in PS Express and click the pencil icon.

Monday, January 28, 13

Click the filter menu and select Reduce Noise.

Monday, January 28, 13

Reduce the overall noise in the photo by adjusting the slider to 40%. Note that too much adjustment can reduce sharpness.

Monday, January 28, 13

To accept the changes, click the ‘✓’ icon.Click it again to save photo.
