You can score more with transitions that pretty pixels.

- Transitions add life to the app

- Transitions can make the apps feel light and

responsive

- Transitions are harder to design

- Half of the work is transferred to the developer

There are ways to anticipate user mood and add

features to make them smile

- When an operation fails

- When there is no connectivity

- When breaking a bad news to the user

- When showing a long loading screen

Settings are boring part of the apps, make them

more fun

- Add easter eggs

- Gamify settings usage to unlock badges/features

- Rearrange items based on user behavior

We can use the gamification model to

script these delightful experiences. Each

type of player has a delight trigger

which can be understood and used in

the right way.

Most common user type

- Just want to hangout with your app

- Very low evangelizer quotient

- You have to design for them, as they have

numbers

- Easy to please, easy to piss off

The users who just tinker around

- Low attention span

- They like to browse through all corners of the app

- They have used a lot of app

- Hard to make them stay, but they find edge cases

and breaking points in your app

Least common type, but they’re evangelizers

- They want to beat other users’ to the finish line

- Great early adopters

- Love to spread the word, they bring in crowd

- Keep them constantly in conversation, they don’t

mind bugs or crashes as long as they’re happy

They love to play, and share

- They have a lot spare time

- Keep them engaged with simple gamification hooks

- Throw in share options for them boast and spread

the word

- They use your app as long as they’ve not seen it all.
