CREATING BETTER WAYS TO MOVEINDIA FROM GUJARAT

Bombardier has a large industrial base employing

around 800 people, generating more than 3,000

indirect manufacturing and engineering jobs locally and

for neighbouring markets.

Our commitment and investment in Gujarat has attracted

other world class suppliers and specialist sub-contractors

to the region meaning that an increasing proportion of

our product is locally sourced.

With all our employees fully trained in specialised

manufacturing processes, our sites in Gujarat have

evolved into truly Indian production and engineering

hubs, meeting consistantly high international quality

standards.

Maneja Site – Partner to Indian RailwaysOur Maneja site provides a range of high quality

production and supply of propulsion and control

equipment to Indian Railways in 2012.

Savli in Vadodara – home to a world-class rolling

stock manufacturing plantIn 2008, we established a state-of-the-art facility in

Savli near Vadodara Gujarat. Following an initial

investment of 33 million Euros (INR 230 crores),

Bombardier’s dedicated, high technology facility is now

equipped to rival the world’s finest in the production of

modern rail vehicles.

With this investment, Bombardier became the first foreign

DELIVERINGTHE BEST URBANMASS TRANSITSOLUTIONS FORINDIA’S CITIES

To meet the demand for increased passenger capacity

in expanding cities, our urban vehicles provide efficient

and cost-effective performance in highly populated

areas. From large-scale urban transit vehicles to light

metro applications, we offer a full range of rail car

technologies and systems

MOVIA trains: Helping cities breatheBombardier has delivered 614 state-of-the-art MOVIAhigh-capacity metro vehicles to combat traffic congestion

and to provide effective public transport in New Delhi.

These state-of-the-art trains form an integral element of

Delhi Metro’s plans to improve mobility and expand the

current network to the outskirts of the city. The MOVIAvehicles will reduce daily travel time for around 4 million

passengers, alleviating the heavy traffic congestion and

pollution caused by more than one million cars that

commute in New Delhi every day.

The MOVIA metro cars are designed for rapid,

efficient, and cost-effective performance and

combined with the BOMBARDIER* CITYFLO*mass transit signalling technology they

increase frequency and availability

of services.

The modern, high capacity MOVIA vehicles are designed

to accommodate 1,480 passengers comfortably per

four-car train set, 2,220 passengers per six-car set

and 2,960 passengers per eight-car set. Sustainability

and eco-friendliness are among the key aspects of the

technologies, for example the Bombardier* MITRAC*propulsion system with regenerative braking which

creates energy savings of up to 30 per cent.

The flexible, modular MOVIA vehicle design is also

advanced driverless monorail systems. Fast and costeffective

to build, INNOVIA Monorail 300 systems are today’s game

changing solution for urban transportation – whether offering

high capacity, frequent services for commuters on dense

inner-city routes or transporting visitors to out of town

destinations such as sports stadiums or tourist sites.

Urban fit – seamless integration into

different environmentsArchitecturally designed to integrate seamlessly into

different environments, including through buildings and

structures, the infrastructure of the INNOVIA Monorail

300 system requires minimal land expropriation and

meets the most stringent urban transit, environmental

and safety standards. Developed to minimise the costs

and disruption of civil construction, the pre-cast,

posttensioned elevated guideway structure is constructed

off-site to permit fast assembly on location. Long beam

spans and tight curve capability also contribute towards

lower expropriation costs. In addition, the elevated

guideways avoid the need for expensive and timeconsuming

tunnelling works, a major advantage when

introducing a new transit system in existing dense

urban areas.

Improved efficiency – flagship performance in

driverless systemsThe INNOVIA Monorail 300 system features the highly

proven Bombardier* CITYFLO* 650 communicationsbased

train control system for driverless operation.
