Websites are no exception

So now you will learn how to takeyour small solo website creations

into the business world

PLANNINGOut of all the steps, this is the most different from your typical Solo projects

You first need to create a list of requirements the site much achieve

THAT’SME

Everybody grows up

Well maybe not EVERYONE but for the most part

Page 3: Creating a Growing Website

This charter should be drafted and approved by your client

If they don‛t like this, there is no hope for the

success of the site

Now that you have a project map, it is time to create the

SITE MAP

This is not new for designers, but it is a way that you can showa client your vision for the flow

of the website

This is most often created by the client, but you will need to help them focuson site goals

a WHAT???

This is going to be the road map for your project

By knowing what you want to accomplish, you will have a clear

vision throughout the entire project

Now create a CHARTER...

Page 4: Creating a Growing Website

CONTRACTS... DESIGNScary right? But like all of us you want to get paid.

In the contractbe sure all the informations about what you are getting paid and when is there

Also milestones dates and when the project will be done

Also add some information about how you will maintain the site and who is responsible for its upkeep

This process does not change much from

small business

to

BIG BUSINESS

You require more approval steps by your client than you are used to

This is a half-donkey. Do not half-donkey anything during this process. Before the only person that got to see these steps were you, but you were you, but you will probably be showing much of this to your client so that they can seethe process that yougot to an idea, and if they don‛t like it, youthey don‛t like it, youneed to have multiple drafts to show them different working ideas

Last of all, connect to thier server

Be sure that you have accessto the company‛s server so you can

edit and upload the site when you need to

DEVELOPMENTNow you get to spend hours in front of your computer coding

HAHAHAAHHHAAAAAAHAHAHAH!!!You are so funny. I like how you just said you hated everything that you made me put on this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BWAHAHAAAHHHAHAHAAAAHAH

Create mock-ups in Photoshop before you start coding!!!

Here is the new Design for your

website!!!

What’s sogreat about

it???

I am glad you asked. There are three flash menus that the user can customize, six color selectorsthe scroll bar gives the user a headache it is so awesome,

And it only took me 300 hours to design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I changed my mind on the color. Idon’t want the scroll bar. We have decided a simple menu is better, and I said I liked the look earlier but now I hate it with a fiery passion

I doubt it

Now we get to familiar territory... CODING

That sounds like something I can do

What is a WIREFRAME?

This is simply creating different ideas with rough sketches for how the pages should be laid out

As a designer, this is my favorite part because if you haven‛t noticed by now my drawing skills are lacking.

I Know!!!

Next, start coding a template page that will most likely be the basis for all of your other pages

After the pages meet your

expectations it is time to add

the website content

Now it is time to add allthe bells and whistles

that make the sitePOP!!!

First, you need to create a framework

This will be your CSS pages as well as creating the page files you will be

working with

HeavenThe moment of truth has arrived

TEST IT!!!

Now it is time to hit the

ButtonLIVE

It is on the web now, your baby is growing up.Now you have to be sure it is ready to take

the abuse the web world will give it

Test it on all browsers to be sure that it is compatible with them

As a designer you are no foreigner to browsers not supporting your sight

Page 8: Creating a Growing Website

Congratulations!!!Now that you have finished the site, take a step back and just look at it. That is hours of your hard work now posted on the world wide web for everyone to see. Now for maybe the last time, ask your maybe the last time, ask your client for feedback about what they think and if they have and future goals for the site. If you have a good relationship with your client the enture process will be pleasant and they pleasant and they will tell other businesses about your work.

I hope you have learned a lot about the process that a designer must gothrough in order to create a websitefor a company. It is definitely worththe hand work when you see your site

up for everyone to see!
