Create Armscye Princess Seams

Step 1 Lets start with the back bodice frst, because its the easiest which is not to saythis is hard, so dont be scared. First thing to do is draw in some grainlines in the areas Iegien you aboe. !eep the grainlines parallel to the center back. "ow, Ie got a con#essionto make. I didnt do this frst step, so the ne$t #ew photos are going to be grainline%less, butplease dont miss this frst step like I did. Its important that you dont get all grainlinecon#used.Step & "ow we need to draw in the princess seam. From the tip o# the dart 'the top, pointyend( to the middle%ish section o# the armscye draw in a line. )hen add some notches whichwill help you when sewing this bad boy up later on

Step * "ow youre going to take your paper scissors and cut out the dart and cut #rom thetip o# the dart to the armscye where you +ust marked your new seam line.Step )ake your #rench cure and cure out the pointy parts 'this happens to be at the topo# the dart( o# the new princess seam. -oull be cutting a slier #rom the Side ack and youllbe adding +ust a little paper to the /pper ack.

Step 0 dd seam allowances to your #reshly dra#ted back bodices. See, not so bad right2-ou could do this in your sleep3

Step 1 4!, the #ront bodice is a little di5erent than the back. "ot by much, but i# youllnotice, you hae more cures on your #ront than your back Ladies, Im re#erring to youhere. "ow this particular piece will look #amiliar #rom yesterdays 6oe a 7art tute. Im +ustcontinuing on, so unless you hae both darts in these particular places 'armscye and waist(,go move your dart. First youll draw in your grainlines making sure they are parallel to thecenter #ront.

"ow you need to e$tend the waist dart to the ape$. 8emember what the ape$ is2 i#you dont, Ill re#resh your memory. Its the pioting point o# the dart and #or our #ront bodicethats right plumb oer the middle o# your breast. -ou should already hae this marked i# youmoed a dart. "e$t youre going to sketch in some notches and then sketch in another notch#or the ape$ making sure that it spills oer into the side #ront area. In the photo aboe myhand is holding together that armscye dart so I can notch it. nd no, this was not an easyphoto to take.

Step * "ow doesnt this look #amiliar. 9ut out your waist dart and #rom there you shouldhae two separate pieces. Ie labeled them Side Front and /pper Front and you can too.Step 8ound out those points, still keeping track o# the ape$. )his is +ust like Step #or theack odice.

For the Front odice only wee got to add in a little bit o# ease that we +ust took outwhen we rounded those sharp points. -oull notice that we didnt do that #or the ack odice

because to be blunt we dont hae breasts back there. :ee got them up #ront. So youll

need to slash #rom the ape$ almost to the side seam and spread 'add paper and tape here(
