What do I need to know to help my child succeed on the CRCT?
What is the purpose of the CRCT?
• Tests the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (GPS)
• Student Report; Class Report; School Report; System Report and State Report
• Individual student strengths and weaknesses.
How is the CRCT scored?
800 to 849 Meets
850 to 900 Exceeds0 to 799 Does Not Meet
State Requirements:• Grade 3: Passing score in Reading• Grade 5: Passing score in Reading and
Math
What are the promotion requirements?
• April 22-May 1: Grades 3, 4 and 5

Before The Test
• Provide a learning environment at home (study spot, materials, schedule for homework)
• Provide books and model reading at home• Encourage a nutritious lifestyle (healthy diet
and exercise)• Limit TV, electronic game time• Have daily conversations
Before The Test
• Be calm, positive (children pick up your stress)
• Remind them that the test is important and that you believe in them (they can do it!)
• Support good school attendance
Teach Test Taking Tips
• Use the information in the passage to pick your answer ( NOT your life!)
• Read the questions first• Use elimination to choose the best
answer• Check your answers – especially the
ones that were difficult for you
The Days of the Test
• Keep to your routine• Encourage your child to do his/her
best• On the day of the test: get good
night’s sleep, provide a good breakfast, comfortable clothes, and be on time
