An exceptional evening awaits you with Paris Merveilles, the latest creation from the Lido de Paris. ARGENTINA

VENUE The Grand Rex is one of the best-known movie theatres on Paris’s 'Grands Boulevards’. Its external facade, outsized compared to neighbouring buildings, features large neon signs and an art deco tower. The theatre's 2,800 places are the most of any in Europe, and its 300 m2 screen (24.90 m (82 ft) wide and 11.35 m (37 ft) high) is the largest in Paris. The Grand Rex (or the Rex as it was originally known) was built in 1931 by a wealthy film producer known for bringing Charlie Chaplin to French audiences. His aim was to create the most beautiful movie theatre in Paris, where cinema-goers would feel like they were watching a film in the open air. The Grand Rex's main auditorium features a starred ceiling and fairy-tale decorations on both sides of the screen, including water features. It hosts French premieres of new movies, plus special events and shows. SHOW Argentina, the magical tango musical! Argentina is a show that takes viewers on a fabulous journey into the sizzling streets of Buenos Aires during the Roaring Twenties. The storyline of this captivating tango

VENUE Bobino is a theatre located on Paris’s Left Bank on a street well-known for its cultural nightlife. Named after an Italian clown who found fame in Paris in the 19th century, Bobino has an unusual history. Since its opening in 1870, the theatre has welcomed an impressive roll call of artists from the French scene, including Edith Piaf and Barbara, but also the American Josephine Baker. Totally rebuilt in 1985, the Bobino experimented with different directions until 2010, when its director pursued a new vision, opening the theatre to one-man-shows, dance, concerts and musicals. SHOW Tutu explores some of the stage’s most famous and important dance works from Swan Lake to Pina Bausch … with a twist. Packed with rhythm and humour, the show features six dancers who, over the course of 20 scenes, become icons of classical ballet, contemporary dance, rhythmic dance, academic dance – and even acrobatic dance. It’s a show filled with colourful surprises that will wow and delight audiences. At its heart are the six chameleon-esque men who play all the roles – more than 40 characters that will have you laughing, gasping and applauding. ‘Chicos Mambo’, the company behind Tutu, is known for its technical wizardry and sense of humour – and both are on show here! This is dance at its versatile, atypical, irreverent, fun and artistic best. A must-see!

VENUE Bobino is a theatre located on Paris’s Left Bank on a street well-known for its cultural nightlife. SHOW Les Franglaises is back in Paris after a successful tour in France and abroad. The show won Best Musical at the 2015 Molières (the French equivalent of the Tony or Olivier awards). Why? Because it’s an hilarious romp through the Anglo-Saxon musical repertoire, a fun-filled show that knowingly plays with all the rules. Les Franglaises offers up literal French translations of some of the best-known songs originally created in English – with some entertaining results! Filled with song, dance and audacious sound effects, Les Franglaises is a unique and memorable moment of unadulterated joy!

MAISON DE LA RADIO/AUDITORIUM

VENUE An iconic venue since the 1960s, the Maison de la Radio is located by the Seine close to the Eiffel Tower and is home to France’s national radio stations. The building is also known as 'Maison Ronde' (Round House) because of its oval architecture. Three years ago, the Maison de la Radio inaugurated a new auditorium for public concerts. Designed to enhance the listening experience, this concert hall was designed with 1,400 seats encircling the stage, offering greater proximity and intimacy for both musicians and music lovers. SHOW – SHOSTAKOVITCH 1917 November 2017: a century ago, according to the Julian calendar used in Russia at the time, Lenin took advantage of the fall of Tsar Nicolas II to found the myth of the Russian Revolution. Shostakovich, whether he liked it or not, was enlisted to celebrate this momentous event of 1917. The result piece was Symphony No. 12, with the last movement simply entitled ‘The Dawn of Humanity’. An entirely different perspective is offered up in his Symphony No. 9 and in his Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra – where ideological references are completely absent. VENUE The Théâtre des Nouveautés finally settled on its current address at Boulevard Poissonnière after a long history and several other locations. Established in 1921, the theatre was initially famous for programming operettas, satires and political plays. Every evening, Bel Canto combines opera and fine dining at two different locations: Bel Canto Hotel de Ville The Bel Canto Hotel de Ville restaurant is perfectly located in the Marais district just in

front of Notre-Dame cathedral and close to City Hall. Every day, you can hear some of the world’s great arias here – in a sumptuous setting decorated with famous costumes crafted in the workshops of the Opéra National de Paris. Bel Canto Neuilly sur Seine The Bel Canto Neuilly is situated in the western part of Paris in the department of the Hauts-de-Seine. The atmosphere could be described as an Italian opera house, bathed in the light of a magnificent chandelier. SHOW At Bel Canto, a carefully-orchestrated team of attentive waiters is supported by a quartet of singers, accompanied by a piano. Every fifteen minutes or so, one, two or all four of the singers perform parts of renowned arias from Carmen, Don Giovanni, Tosca, The Magic Flute or La Bohème. Today, it offers an eclectic programme of concerts, with late night clubbing Wednesday to Saturday featuring 100% French music. Madame Arthur Next door to the Divan du Monde is a famous transformist cabaret! Madame Arthur celebrates French chanson songs, with drag queens donning dresses and high heels to embody the stars of the past and today! Early on in his career, iconic French musician Serge Gainsbourg played piano here. SHOW

VENUE Ever since its creation in the 70s, the Parc de la Villette has continually evolved. Now, a brand new building designed by architect Jean Nouvel has completed the ensemble started in 1995, and formerly known as the Cite de la Musique. Today, the complex has been renamed the Philharmonie de Paris. Unique in the world, the Philharmonie is composed of 4 concert halls, a Music Museum, spaces for educational activities, and areas to accommodate orchestras. One of the most impressive concert halls is the Grande Salle, boasting exceptional acoustics. It can host up to 2,400 people in orchestra configuration. The Orchestre de Paris is the Philharmonie’s main resident ensemble. It is France’s largest symphonic ensemble, with 119 members. In 2017, this world-famous orchestra celebrates its 50th anniversary, and is set to exploit the Grande Salle’s full acoustic potential, bringing audiences the very best of symphonic music. THEATRE DU RANELAGH

VENUE The Theatre du Ranelagh is located in the elegant 16th arrondissement of Paris. Built on the site of a former theatre, the current building dates from 1894 and has Neo-Renaissance features with a warm carved oak panelling interior. The owner at the time was a wealthy manufacturer and music enthusiast. Despite its exceptional acoustics, the theatre was mainly reserved for private performances. The public came back in the 1930s when the theatre became a celebrated art-house cinema. Over the years, new directors helped broaden and diversify the theatre’s programme. Today, the Theatre du Ranelagh offers a rich variety of classic plays, concerts, circus shows and opera. If you come for a show, take the time to soak up the surroundings. The magnificent architecture is classified as one of Paris’s ‘historical monuments’ (listed since 1977). SHOW At the Theatre du Ranelagh, you can enjoy French theatre without missing a word!

The owners both work in TV and one-man shows and offer up an eclectic programme. The aim is to entertain all types of audience. SHOW OH MY GOD, SHE’S PARISIAN! Enjoy a one-hour comedy that’s 100% in English! Julie Collas is a Parisian who used to live in London and Chicago. And the experience of living abroad made her inner Parisian come right out! Now back in Paris, she presents a one-woman show sharing all the ‘je ne sais quoi’ that makes her so Parisian. In a series of hilarious sketches, you’ll meet a whole series of typical French characters, from the rude waiter to the impatient metro passenger. Find out what it really means to be a Parisian!

JAZZ CLUB ETOILE

VENUE In the last 40 years, the stage of the Jazz Club Etoile has welcomed jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Lionel Hampton, BB King, Dee Dee

Bridgewater or Diana Krall. Located in the Méridien Etoile hotel, this prestigious jazz club recently reopened its doors after several months of renovation work. The new decor is a tribute to Paris, using touches of Eiffel metal, métro-style tiling and lighting effects. Discover the program : a subtle mix of tributes to jazz legends and promising new talents. SHOW Diunna Greenleaf & KingFish (Thursday 2 November) Diunna Greenleaf started off in gospel but soon developed her own style blending jazz and soul. Let yourself be lulled by the soothing blues of this talented Texan singer. Playing just one date at the Jazz Club Etoile on Thursday 2 November. New Blues Generation (Friday 3 and Thursday 9 November) His album ‘Refuse to Loose’, released last year, created a sensation in the world of the blues. At barely 30 years of age, Jarekus Singleton is already a complete and highly accomplished artist: a talented singer, songwriter and guitarist. His live set at the Jazz Club Etoile will be full of contemporary influences, with accompaniment by his own band and a special guest turn from saxophonist Sax Gordon. Playing for 2 days only! J. CAVEAU DE LA HUCHETTE

VENUE Recently celebrated in the Oscar-winning La La Land, the Caveau de la Huchette is the mythical club of Paris’s Left Bank. This Latin Quarter jazz cellar has welcomed the world’s best exponents of saxophone, drum and guitar jazz ever since American GIs brought the genre over to France after the war. Today, the Caveau’s band plays every night to fans of jazz and bebop dancing.

Watch your step as you head down and enter the world of the Caveau! SHOW Open every day all year round, the Caveau de la Huchette is a way to see a different side of Paris while immersing yourself in the world of jazz and swing! PALACE OF VERSAILLES

VENUE Versailles may be a political symbol, but it also has a long history as a place of art and culture. Louis XIV invited the most famed artists of the time to Versailles to entertain him with lavish productions. To keep this tradition alive, Château de Versailles Spectacles offers an annual programme of performances in Versailles’s most impressive spaces. Take in a show and you’ll get to see some of the property’s most iconic places: the Royal Opera house, the Royal Chapel, the Hall of Mirrors or the sumptuous Hercules Salon. The programme includes both contemporary and classical concerts. It’s a great way to discover the Palace in another light, with just a handful of other people – long after most visitors have left. SHOW Two tenors pay tribute to Monteverdi in the glorious setting of the Hercules Salon, the biggest in Versailles. Monteverdi: Heroic Duets is an evening with Julian Prégardien and his father Christoph singing a selection of works by the great Italian composer. L’OPERA COMIQUE

VENUE Alongside the Comédie-Française and the Opéra de Paris, the Opéra Comique is one of the oldest French institutions of theatre and music. Located on a splendid square near the Grands Boulevards, this national theatre celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2015. Created under Louis XVI, the Opéra Comique also welcomed Marie Antionette on the occasion of the inauguration of its main auditorium. But this cultural icon has also had its fair share of low points, with its main theatre, the Salle Favart, destroyed and rebuilt on two separate occasions. A night out at the Opéra Comique doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be watching comedy. The main difference with regular opera is that the shows feature both sung arias and spoken theatre. The Opéra Comique offers up a rich and often surprising programme. So, why not try something different and treat yourself to a night out at this iconic Parisian venue? SHOW The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart The Magic Flute was Mozart’s last work – and a testimony to his lyrical genius. He died a few weeks after it premiered in Vienna. The production presented at the Opéra Comique is a version by Barrie Kosky and the London Collective in 1927. On stage, animated film and video is used to evoke a world where an atmosphere of supernaturalism reigns supreme.

Created in Berlin in 2012, this production will have its French premiere at the Opéra Comique on 6 November. Plot Prince Tamino is ordered by the Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter Pamina, with help from Papageno, from the clutches of High Priest Sarastro. Tamino receives a magic flute to help them on their journey. But, as he advances on his adventure, Tamino discovers that the forces of evil are not what he thought they would be. VENUE Located on the main boulevard between Place de la Bastille and Place de la République, the Cirque d’Hiver is instantly recognizable thanks to its distinctive polygon architecture. It was opened in 1852 by Napoleon III, and was initially used for equestrian shows before opening up to other performance arts. In 1934, it was bought by the Bouglione family, whose shows brought the venue fame at home and abroad. Today, the Cirque d’Hiver is considered the oldest permanent circus in the world. Designated an historical monument in 1975, the Cirque d’Hiver can accommodate up to

1,650 spectators. People of all ages are welcome! SHOW EXPLOIT is the name of the new Cirque d’Hiver show by the Bouglione family. In association with guest artists from all over the world, the Bouglione family presents an evening of surprising and innovative acts, combining poetic artistry with physical prowess.
