What THE HECK IS A green smoothie?
Green smoothies are plant-based drinks packed
with leafy greens and fresh fruits. Once you get
over the color and actually taste one—you will
be amazed at how delicious they are.
We know how hard it can be to eat leafy greens
Another salad...really?!
We believe green smoothies are the answer.
Our green smoothie recipes are easy to make:
all you need is a blender, some leafy greens and
fruit. Really! That’s it. Eating well isn’t rocket science— or at least it shouldn’t be.
Let us break it down a little more for you: we follow a ratio of 60% fruits to 40%
leafy greens. This formula allows you to pack in some serious greens yet still have a
delicious green smoothie. Pretty awesome, right?
We like our smoothies as clean and nature-based as possible, which means we try
to buy organic produce and avoid processed sugars and dairy. We occasionally add
coconut water, unsweetened nut milks and superfoods to our green smoothies for
added flavor and beneficial nutrients, like protein, calcium and potassium. Feel free
to experiment and find what works for you!

When was the last time you sat down and enjoyed eating 2 cups of raw kale—
never, right? I would be gagging and have tears streaming down my cheeks. Well,
that’s about to change! Green smoothies make eating 2 cups of kale a breeze. I
can even do the happy dance as I am gulping my green smoothie. Not only do they
taste really good, but they are insanely good for you.
Now it’s your turn to start doing the happy dance!
Did you know that leafy greens have more valuable nutrients than any other
food group? They contain high-quality amino acids, important minerals, vitamins,
antioxidants, and beneficial phytochemicals (plant-based chemicals also known as
phytonutrients).
Adding large amounts of leafy greens into your diet will tranform your body from
the inside out. Our families are living proof of this and we can’t wait to have you
join us on the green smoothie train. Woo! Woo!
5 REASONS WE LOVE GREEN SMOOTHIES1. Great energy booster — Green smoothies are our “afternoon pick-me-up”
2. Natural and fun way to lose weight — No starvation diet here!
3. Simple way to boost your immune system — No reason to be sick in bed.
4. Full of disease-fighting antioxidants — Keeps you so purdy and healthy.
5. The best fast food out there — Hands down.

A powerful blender is the most essential tool for making green smoothies.
A blender is the most essential tool for making green smoothies.
Blendtec and Vitamix are the most coveted blenders (and for good reasons—
their warranty and performance are incredible). Right now you can get these
blenders refurbished and save over $150 on each— it’s a great deal.
Refurbished Vitamix: $329 + free shipping. enter code: 06-007771
Refurbished Blendtec: $384 + free shipping. enter code: 460868
Yet not everyone can buy a professional blender, and you don’t have to. The
Nutribullet and the Ninja are powerful blenders at a fraction of the cost.
We love mason jars. They are durable,
reusable and of course, super cute.
Widemouth jars are typically easier to clean:
pint size | half-pint size (kids)
Yet regular mouth jars have better lid
options: pint size | quart size (storing)
Green smoothies and straws go so well
together. We always have a few kinds of
straws around the house. For home-use, we
recommend reusable stainless steel straws
and a small brush to clean them well. When
you are taking your green smoothie to-go or
having a large get-together, we love using
eco-friendly paper straws.

Boost your immune system with a healthy dose of vitamin A and vitamin C to stay healthy
during the cold and flu season. Vitamin A not only supports eye health, but it also supports your
immune system— and carrots are a great source of this essential vitamin. Did you know that one
cup of fresh squeezed orange juice has 207% of the daily value recommended for vitamin C?
Vitamin C also helps your body absorb iron and strengthens its resistance to infection.
NOTESBlend spinach (tightly packed), orange juice
and water together until smooth. Next add the
remaining fruits and blend again.
Use at least one frozen fruit to make the green
smoothie cold.
Additional immune boosters: powdered

Did you know that one kiwi contains 230% of our daily vitamin C need? This fuzzy fruit is also
considered a fat burner and plays a role in healing wounds and boosting iron absorption. Avocado
and banana add potassium, a healthy dose of the “good” fats and an amazingly creamy texture.
Kiwifruit Tango
NOTESBlend kale (tightly packed), coconut water
and water together until smooth. Next add
the remaining fruits and blend again.
Use at least one frozen fruit to make the
green smoothie cold.
P.S. We sometimes keep the skin on our
kiwi for extra fiber. Yet if you don’t like the
texture, feel free to strip your kiwi down to
its bright green goodness.

banana? Not only does coconut water have 17% daily value of potassium, but it’s loaded with
electrolytes and often called “nature’s Gatorade.” So hydrate your body and give your muscles
some sweet lovin’ with this high-potassium and vitamin-rich green smoothie!

Calorie for calorie, kale has more iron than beef, and it’s a great source of calcium, vitamin A

recovery drink that promotes healthy weight loss, too. Almonds are an excellent source of
protein, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin E. This combination of vitamins and minerals help
support your bones, muscles and skin. The low-calorie berries in this smoothie are loaded with
antioxidants that boost your immune system, protect your body against diseases like cancer

For amazingly delish green smoothies, follow the 60/40 formula:
If your green smoothie is bitter, sweet it up naturally. Sometimes, green
smoothies can taste a little bitter from all the fabulsou leafy greens. To fix
this, just add a natural sweetner like banana, mango, apple, pear or pitted
dates. Problem solved just like that.
Fresh is best! For optimal nutritional value, drink it immediately. Yet
sometimes you will have leftovers . Solution: store excess in an airtight
container, like a mason jar with lid. This limits oxidation, which breaks
down nutrients and changes the color of your vibrant green smoothie. You
can store in the fridge for 24 - 72 hours— just shake well before drinking.
Get adventurous with you liquid base! Water is a great base for green
smoothies, but it’s nice to change it up and incorporate more nutrients
and vitamins occassionally. Some other plant-based choices are coconut
water, almond milk, fresh squeezed juices and coconut milk.
Read all about liquid bases on our website=> click here
Chill down your smoothie fast and easy! Freeze your favorite fruits like
ripe bananas, grapes, pineapple or berries. This is also a great way to not
waste ripe fruits and veggies.
