MacGregor Crane Information System

Human Machine Interface (HMI)

MacGregor crane control systemThe crane safety system includes a

well-proven and very reliable MacGregorcrane control system.

The primary software-based safetysystem is connected to load cells,encoders and transmitters and alsohas a degree of redundancy.

In case of encoder failure whenconnected to the software-basedsystem, the crane can still beoperated in fail-safe mode with theconventional safety system activated.

In this mode, the cranes operating

speed is reduced. The safety system includes a display

located in the cabin, the Mac-Heavyvisor. It gives the driver infor-mation including the current hookload, the outreach, hoisting speedand heel angle. The display also has aheel warning.

Information shown on the display foreach crane can be transmitted via theslip ring device, through a cable, to a

PC in, for example, the ships office or

the bridge. This makes it easy for thechief officer to have excellent controlof a team lift operation, for example.

In the crane cabin there is a cranecomputer, which graphically presentsinformation from the crane controlsystem on the display.

The crane computer is also used forlogging load.
