BC should take advantage of its favourable economic outlook and
encourage business productivity by focusing on the following
policy areas to:
• Ensure BC’s business tax competitiveness; and
• Minimize the labour skills gap.

INPUT TAX CREDITS
Maintaining business competitiveness is vital to
long-term economic sustainability. Any negative
tax changes could affect our province’s ability to
attract new business.

INPUT TAX CREDITS
Recommendation #1: Implement full PST
exemption or input tax credit mechanism for
business expenditures to encourage investment
and to maintain BC’s business competitiveness
and drive productivity.

LABOUR SKILLS GAP
The shift towards a knowledge-based economy
means an increasing need for skilled labour and
a growing concern about labour skills mismatch,
which can cost the province billions in foregone
GDP and millions in foregone tax revenue.
