Public Program – Saturday 2 November 2013.
T he much anticipated special presentation by photographer Neil Duncan about his
work in the exhibition, became an even more exciting experience with not one, but
two celebrated photographers taking part. Acclaimed photographer Merv Bishop was
also present and took an active part in the presentation. The attentive crowd listened to the two highly entertaining men who both
proved to be skilled raconteurs as they spoke on the trials and tribulations associated
with their careers as press and professional photographers.
They both agreed that really famous personalities were generally very co-
operative and good to ‘deal with’ and it’s the “up-
and-comers” who often prove to be difficult.
Both men were highly approachable and
their talk really brought the portraits to life.
At right: Neil Duncan mesmerised some of his listeners with the tales of his adventures. At left: Merv Bishop with his portrait of the ‘Royal
Photographer’ Cecil Beaton. Merv took the photo in his younger days and had nervously asked Mr Beaton if he would mind smiling! Merv was somewhat taken aback when he replied “I am!”

Greg Daly Greg Daly -- 40 Years In The Making: The Pots I Kept40 Years In The Making: The Pots I Kept 30 November to 15 December
4 0 Years In The Making: The Pots I Kept showcases significant pieces from
the career of Cowra-based and internationally-renowned ceramicist,
Greg Daly. Daly began working with
clay at 13 years of age, eventually
studying at RMIT where he honed
his craft. He has played a key role
in the unfolding history of the
professional crafts movement in
Australia, as both an artist and a
teacher.
His career has been defined
by willingness to experiment, and
a fundamental understanding of
the interplay between form, glaze,
decoration and light. This diverse
exhibition shows the development
of Daly’s craft, from some of his
earliest work, to his most recent.
His latest work has been inspired by the changing light around his home
and studio.
Returning to his use of lustre glazes, Daly creates vibrant colour and
movement that shifts and changes as the viewer experiences the work from
different angles.
Special Artists Talk. The exhibition will open Saturday 21 December at
2pm with guest speaker Peter Haynes - Consultant, Curator, Writer, Art
Historian and Heritage Advisor, followed by a special artists talk - Greg Daly in
conversation with Peter Haynes. Admission is free. Exhibition Dates: 30 November to 15 December 2013
