Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB): If you have stopped working because of COVID-19, the CERB may provide you with temporary income support. Apply through the CRA by phone: 1-800-959-2019 or 1-800-959-2041 or www.canada.ca

Ontario Works and Emergency Assistance (Income and Employment Supports): Ontario Works helps people with the costs of basic needs, like food, clothing and shelter. A new one-time benefit, the COVID-19 Emergency Discretionary Benefit is available to clients needing assistance. More info: District of Muskoka - 705-645-2412 ext. 4275 - www.muskoka.on.ca/ontarioworksEmergency Assistance and Shelter Supports: If you need help with rent, utility, fuel, wood, and other necessities, contact the District at 705-645-2412 ext. 4363 - [email protected] (Guaranteed Annual Income System) Increase: Beginning in April 2020, monthly GAINS payment amounts will be automatically doubled for a period of six months. To sign up for direct deposit, call 1-800-277-9914.Goods and Service Tax Credit (GSTC): A one-time special payment by early May through the Goods and Services Tax credit for low and modest-income families. If you are eligible, you will get it automatically.Tax Filing: The Government of Canada is deferring the filing due date for the 2019 tax returns of individuals until June 1, 2020. Any new income tax balances due, or instalments, will be deferred until after August 31, 2020 without penalties. Registered Retirement Income Fund: (RRIFs) – The minimum withdrawal amount has been lowered by 25% for 2020.

For Children & StudentsSupport for Families: Parents can apply for a one-time COVID-19 payment to help offset the costs of keeping children entertained and engaged during the extended time away from school. Apply online only: https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-support-familiesCanada Child Benefit (CCB) Increase: This benefit will be delivered as part of the scheduled CCB payment in May. Those who already receive the Canada Child Benefit do not need to re-apply. If you need to apply visit: https://tinyurl.com/y8t5uxfw Canada Student Loan Relief: A six-month interest-free moratorium on the repayment of Canada Student Loans for all individuals currently in the process of repaying these loans. No application required. OSAP: OSAP is temporarily deferring loan payments and interest accrual for OSAP borrowers. From March 30 to September 30, 2020, you will not be required to make any loan payments, and interest will not accrue on your student loans.

Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) Expansion:The Ontario Energy Board is extending the ban on electricitydisconnections for households and small businesses that fail to pay their utility bills to July 31, 2020 - www.oeb.ca - 1-855-487-5327

Hydro One Pandemic Relief Fund: Suspending late payments for customers until May 7, 2020. Eliminating mid-peak and on-peak rates for 45 days. No action required by customers. 1-888-664-9376.
