Zencity Coronavirus Sentiment Analysis for 6/4 - 6/5
Dear @MayorOfLA , I was protesting downtown yesterday, and I saw dozens of members of the armed services without masks on. Can you please provide them with the gear they need to avoid spreading COVID to the peaceful protestors?
I had the honor of writing another COVID-19 obituary for a dedicated, joyful Los Angeles newspaperman whose name you never saw on a story. For more than 25 years, it was Rafael Cartagena's job to keep the presses running, and he was the best at it.
Popular “negative” posts Can you explain why the national guard doesn’t have to wear masks @MayorOfLA???
The [testing sites] never should have been closed. Resign in disgrace.
You withheld disease testing during a global pandemic as leverage to stop protesting against your corrupt police force. you truly should be ashamed
Do you realize how many people the police have exposed to COVID-19 by blasting them with tear gas and locking them in crowded spaces? There will be a huge spike in 2 weeks and you fascists are to blame. Fire Moore and resign now. #WeSeeYou
Good. Now fire Moore, defund the Police (more) and resign.
Popular “positive” posts Popular “neutral” postsHealth experts are warning police use of tear gas could be spreading coronavirus among protesters
Reminder that during quarantine, lots of kids in LA (mostly Black & Brown) did not have access to the internet to continue their learning & were also in families where parents had lost their jobs. And these families were struggling even before the pandemic.
Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Wednesday that the City of Los Angeles would cut up to $150 million from the LAPD and “reinvest” the funds in the local black community. Local law enforcement is our first line of defense. Without it these riots will become the new normal.
We are doing more testing than ever. More businesses have been opened. If there is a spike it would be very hard to attribute it solely to these protests I would think.
Where is the mayor’s mask? What happened to forced social distancing?
37
Social media discourse, driven primarily by the protests across LA City, remains very high with 3.7M interactions over the past two days. There was some overlap with Coronavirus discourse which generated 129K interactions, making up 3.3% of the overall engagement.
