Currently, I am attending Ryerson University as a second year History student, with a current GPA of 3.53. I focus my studies on the history of terrorism, intelligence, espionage, and global conflict. My time at Ryerson University has taught me a great deal about myself and what I am capable of doing if I apply myself. I have become increasingly self-motivated and a highly ambitious individual with an insatiable need for learning and self-improvement. I have found that the research, analysis, and critical thinking skills that I have learned at Ryerson can be applied to many aspects of my life, and I find myself constantly using them. It is with these skills and with this mindset that I approach the Communications Security Est ablishment of Canada, with a positive outlook that my work will be of the highest quality. In addition to studying History, I am an active member of the Ryerson History Society , and the IID, both of which organize a variety of events and seminars to raise student awareness and occasionally raise money for charity. In addition to my extra-curricular activities at school, I am also a volunteer for Ryerson's VAST program (Volunt eers Assisting S tudents and T eachers), which places me at an inner-city sc hool where I can assist both the teacher and the students in the daily lessons. These achievements demonstrate that I am able to simultaneously excel in my schoolwork as well as give back to my community by working with under-privileged youth and while raising awareness and money for various causes and charities. The summers of 2013, 2012, and 2011, I worked at Camp U of T as the instructor for the Digital Media camp. My responsibilities included maintaining order and discipline among the campers as well as the assistant instructors who aided me in the delivery of the daily lessons. Both my staff and the campers respected my rules and my authority, and as a result my camp had very few issues to resolve, disciplinary or otherwise. Upon final review at the end of each summer, my superiors in both cases mentioned that I had a very well-run camp, with a grand majority of the campers and their parents being very satisfied with the camp and its content. These experiences as a leader and mentor to other staff and the campers allowed me to gain an understanding of what it takes to run a team effectively and efficiently , and it is my hope that I can extend that skill set to help my team at the Communications Securit y Establishment of Canada run smoothly as well. I feel that my resume reflects success in a variety of academic, volunteer and employment environments. I love a challenge and my previous life experience have demonstrated that I enjoy working with people. Balancing schoolwork and volunteering has taught me to plan my time efficient ly and how to be a leader and a mentor. It has also taught me that discipline and hard work are essential components in achieving my goals. I am a tremendously motivated individual and enjoy being part of a team. I am writing to express my interest in a communications position with the Communications Security Establishment of Canada for the summer of 2014.
