For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. (Matthew 18:20)

CHOIR CHATTER:

Your choir is busy preparing for choir Sunday - August 27th. We will lead worship with our tour music, Lloyd Larson's The Church's One Foundation. We will also have dinner that evening in the fellowship hall

where we will introduce this year's Christmas cantata. If you are interested in choir and can sing, please sign up so we

know to expect you and feed you. You'll find the sheets on bulletin boards in both the sanctuary building and the fellowship hall. Remember, if cats

run under the bed and dogs howl when you sing, we need good listeners, too.

See you in church,

Wanda

THE AUGUST FLOWER CHART IS DISTRESSINGLY BLANK!!

The flower arrangements each Sunday add so much to the beauty of our sanctuary and we are fortunate in having a talented arranger in our church family. As often as possible, she uses flowers from her yard but more often, does need to purchase flowers. If you would like to give flowers in honor or memory of someone, call Judy Raybon 919-365-3923 or the church office. Cost is $60 AND you can take them home!! (Donations accepted also).

SEPTEMBER IS COMING!!

Summer is great but it is time to look ahead & prepare.

RALLY DAY is September 10th so mark your calendar.

Our Youth will be leading worship that morning and will meet at

10:00 a.m. in their Sunday School room beginning August 6th to prepare.

VBS Superheroes (and any youngsters that wish they were!) will

begin meeting with Miss Mary at 10:30 a.m. on August 20th to practice

VBS songs to share with the congregation on Rally Day.

Did a Sunday School teacher impact your life? Would you

like to give back? We are still setting up our teams for teaching Sunday

School. The team approach means that you have someone with whom to

discuss ideas and plans AND you do not have to teach every Sunday.

Give it some prayer and then listen - is teaching Sunday School part of

God’s plan for you??

MOVIE NIGHT – ON THURSDAY!!!

Thursday, August 10th at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

CARVER ELEMENTARY BACKPACK BUDDY PROGRAM

Don't forget our weekend meals for Carver kids. We need hearty soups, vegetables, peanut butter and fruit to pack for August delivery. There is a designated bin in the Narthex and lists with suggested items on the bulletin boards.

The Food Pantry is an on-going project supplying bags of groceries to needy families in our area. Emphasis for August: Dried peas, beans, rice and dried fruit. Of

course any non-perishable foods as welcome. We are grateful to Wendell UMC for providing space and volunteers to staff the pantry. If you would like to

volunteer at the pantry, let the church office know.

School Summer vacation is nearly over! This year our

traditional drive for school supplies will be in conjunction with the

“Bright for Will” Foundation. There is a bin in the narthex and

lists of needed supplies on the bulletin boards as well as more

information later in this newsletter.

On August 27th, Mike Smithson & Bud Lawlor will man the

grill after worship and everyone is invited to a cookout!

There will be lists posted if you want to bring

a side dish but it isn’t necessary. Just come, enjoy,

and put some money in the basket to help with the

Supply drive. Children need the right tools to learn

and all too often, teachers are trying to fill in

supplies for a whole classroom!

Added attraction: Sam’s Flying Scoops Ice Cream Truck

will be on hand for dessert. Proceeds of sales will benefit the

Foundation.

Thank you

Dear Church Family,

They say there is no "I" in the word "TEAM". But, our

church "teams" are full of Individuals who go the extra mile,

who step up to the plate and make sure that things get done.

There were many individuals, as well as teams, who provided

food, sent cards & emails, played music, crocheted blankets,

ushered, provided sound, preached, worked in the office, and

PRAYED for our family during Mark Abate's illness and funeral

service. Our family would like to thank you ALL.

"Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of

the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

—Colossians 3:17

Sincerely,

The Abate Family - Bob & Marge Borland (Mark's in-laws),

Karen & Richard Anderson (Mark's sister & brother-in-law),

and Becky, Nick, Marcella, & Giuliana Abate (Mark's wife &

children)
