There were also five representatives of Glenmore Lodge 5543 in attendance for a very special reason and that was for a presentation of a 60 year in Free- masonry Certificate to W. Bro Kenneth Garrett PJGD by W.Bro Trevor Rains APGM. Ken Garrett, as many may know, is a Resident of JTC and very proud of his achievement and so were we. There were ten Masonic Residents at the Meeting and they said it was a most enjoyable Meeting if a little cramped. After the Meeting there was a refreshment break followed by a superb buffet lunch provided by Sandra and her team. The next Lodge of Instruction will be in March/April time and if any Lodge would like to rehearse in full re- galia then apply to the Secretary, John Banks at john- [email protected] or Phone 0208 641 5492. Christmas Greetings The Chairman and all the members of the Committee of The Friends of James Terry Court wish all our Patrons and Friends a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous, Peaceful New Year. Christmas Fayre The Christmas Fayre was held in the Dining room / Lounge of the home so after lunch the space was turned into a colourful grotto of stalls selling Christmas paper, cards and crackers to cakes of all sizes, games, bric a brac, books, raffle and a tombola. All to the accompaniment of the 10 th South Croydon Guides singing and playing carols giving an air of Christmas cheer on a chilly afternoon. The Fayre was opened by the Lady Mayor of Croydon ( Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed) who was introduced by W. Bro Trevor Rains APGM. In her opening speech she stressed the importance of community and referred to what we do for the community. The Home Manager, Diane Collins, took the Mayor on a tour of the Home and she said she was impressed with what she saw. After all the clearing up was finished and the rooms returned to their proper use we went home weary but pleased that we had made a profit in excess of £3000 and a huge thank you goes to all the stallholders and helpers, for their effort, it is very much appreciated and to the Residents for the use of their Home. John Banks Our thanks go to the 10 th South Croydon Guides who once again treated us to Carols during the fayre.

SUMMER FETE

The annual James Terry Court Summer Fête was held on the 8th June and as you can see from the photo’s the weather was kind to us. The Fête was formally opened by the Provincial Grand Master RW Bro. Eric Stuart-Bamford.

Many of the stalls are run by lodges that have been staunch supporters of the home for many years like Petersham Lodge. Their Bottle Stall is always a popular attraction.

Also on hand was the ever popular Pimm’s bar run by Don Howie. The above photo was taken prior to the opening and before the bar was surrounded by usual eager customers.

This year we welcomed a new plant stall brought to us courtesy of Cheam Plant Centre. They put on a colourful display for us and we look forward to welcoming them back on future occasions.

It was good to see a number of the residents venture out and join in the festivities and to en-joy a glass of Pimm’s. One wonders though what was hidden under their hats, perhaps something a little stronger that the don't want the Home Manager to spot!

Our grateful thanks goes to Garry Lewis who once again organised this splendid event. We know how much effort he put in to make it the success it was.

Don’t forget

Don’t forget you can always keep up to date with develop-ment at James Terry Court by following us on our website at www.fojtc.org.

Our resident family of ducks have finally decided to leave for warmer clime’s after giving the residents many hours of enjoyment as they watched them grow from little chicks to adulthood. We have it on good authority that they were probably some of the most pampered ducklings in the country. Pictured above are some of the young ducks enjoying their own private paddling pool. We will now have to wait to see if any of them return next year with their own clutch of youngsters to entertain the resi-dents. If more than 1 duck returns to start a family we could be in for some interesting times, however it might not go down too well with some of the staff who will in-evitably have to clean up after them.
