www.medicine.unimelb.edu.au ABOUT THE COURSES The Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate in Primary Care Nursing have been developed by experienced primary care nurses and general practitioners. The courses have been created specifically for Registered Nurses working in primary care settings. These courses offer the opportunity to develop and consolidate professional and clinical knowledge. The courses complement previous workplace experience and reflect the latest policy and practice developments in Primary Care. OUTCOMES Completing the diploma or certificate will provide nurses with the clinical skills and theoretical knowledge to increase their scope of practice and provide comprehensive and evidence-based patient care. Our Women’s Health Screening subject is accredited by PapScreen Victoria. Students will be able to practise as Nurse Cervical Screening Providers upon completion of the program. Our Immunisation and Travel Health subject is accredited by the Department of Health. On successful program completion students will be able to practise as Nurse Immunisers in Victoria, South Australia and some other states. Graduates are well prepared and eligible for entry into the Masters of Advanced Nursing Programs at the University of Melbourne. Some subjects are supported by attendance at a compulsory face-to-face workshop and others require clinical placements to be organised by the student. Subjects that include a clinical audit or patient interview, as a component of the assessment, will require students to have contact with patients in a primary care setting. SINGLE SUBJECTS All subjects can be taken as a single subject, providing prerequisites are met. Enrolment in a single subject is available via the University’s Community Access Program (CAP). http://go.unimelb.edu.au/55dn

SELECTION CRITERIAApplicants must have

�� completed a 3 year degree in nursing (or approved equivalent);

�� minimum of 1 year clinical practice;

�� National Division 1 Registration (Registered Nurse)

ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS �� Where a clinical placement is required students must

comply with the Clinical Placements Policy of the MDHShttp://go.unimelb.edu.au/v2sa

�� An adult, children and infant resuscitation certificate is required for the Immunisation and Travel Health subject (HTLAID001 or equivalent; must be valid at the time of clinical placement).
